Chapter 217
Steady Footsteps
Jose walked through the underground passage with Amy. A backpack was slung over his shoulders, and a belt bag was secured around his waist.
Inside that belt bag was something precious—bottles of Knox’s special potion, packed tightly together. No matter what happened, he could not let them break.
With this potion that Knox had developed, controlling monsters was surprisingly easy.@@novelbin@@
At first glance, it looked like nothing more than ordinary water, but once the bottle was opened, a powerful stench spread into the air. That scent was what attracted the monsters.
Once they caught a whiff, they became completely entranced, fixating on the smell rather than chasing after prey—humans.
It worked on the same principle as their obsession with Elphinus herbs, except this was even stronger.
"I wish Vanilla could’ve come with us."
Amy murmured, clearly feeling attached after their trip to Kint together. Jose agreed.
"Yeah."
Vanilla had wanted to join them on their journey to the capital, but that would have left Happy House short on defenders. In the end, she had to stay behind.
Jose recalled what Knox had told him before they left.
"Hey, Jose. When you were in Kint, did you hear the rumors?"
"Rumors?"
"Hmm. You know how Brunel Village and the Sinclair Hotel camp do manpower exchanges, right?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I heard from them that a new survivor showed up at that hotel camp recently. Apparently, they escaped from Marquis Devonshire’s camp and claimed they were a slave there."
"Ah. I think I heard something about that, but I was too focused on the mission to pay much attention."
"That makes sense. Either way, there are whispers that Prince Lloyd is up to something. Some say even more monsters are going to flood the capital soon."
What do you think?
