1262  The Mysterious Symbol

After the plane crash happened people were still distraught and traumatized therefore everyone was given one day off to rest before starting their activities. Because of that, Lory had a lot of time to examine the picture Zhao Li Xin gave her.

Lory started looking for old scriptures from all the sources he could find on the internet unfortunately after hours of searching she didn't get anything even though Lory had predicted this but still, this made her disappointed because it meant the picture that Zhao Li Xin sent was not common and lory couldn't help but worry about that. However, what bothered Lory the most was her sense of familiarity with the symbols, as if she had seen them before but couldn't remember where.

Suddenly there was a knock on her room, Lory frowned for a moment and then walked to the door she peeked through the peephole before making sure it was Garrof and Lloyd a second later Lort opened the door wide "Come on in," she raised her hand to invite them in.

"Good evening, sorry disturbed your rest," Lloyd politely greeted her. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Don't worry, I'm not..." Lory beckoned them to enter then closed the door.

Lory walked around the table and then dropped her butt onto the chair while on the table the laptop screen and Lory's tablet continued to move which meant Lory was automatically searching on the internet.

"Have you eaten your highness?" Garrof notices her tired face.

"Yes," Lory pointed with her gaze at the small table next to the window.

Garrof raised his brows and then said: "Cake is not a meal, princess"

"You sound like my husband" Lory rolled her eyes.

"Well, thank you" Garrof was sincerely flattered to have something in common with someone poised and cultured like Zhao Li Xin.

Lory took a deep breath even though she hated to admit it she did need a nice meal since she hadn't eaten anything since landing.

Lory picked up the room telephone and then called room service to order food after that she leaned back in her chair later on she let out a heavy sigh. Garrof saw Lory immersed in her thoughts thus he got curious.

"Something bothering you, Princess?" Garrof ask. Lory's brows furrowed, "Li Xin sent me strange symbols and signs that look like spells, but I don't know what kind of spell these are"

"Can I see it?" Garrof asked.

"Sure" Lory handed her phone to Garrof.

Garrof checked Lory's cell phone "Huh, why do I feel like I've seen this symbol before?... yeah I think I had seen this before, but where?"

"Let me see" Lloyd took Lory's cell phone from Garrof and then examined the picture carefully after a while his brows furrowed "Yes, I've seen some of these symbols before, especially this flower symbol..." Lloyd enlarged the symbol to show Lory. "You've seen this symbol too, princess…don't you remember?"

Lory took the phone with a confused look "What? Where?"

"Did you forget? That's the same symbol on the weird rock that we dig from inside the Maren carcass" Lloyd reminds her.

"What?!" Lory and Garrof shouted in unison.

Garrof got behind Lory to look at the picture again suddenly he remembered, "Yes, you're right buddy, this flower symbol is like the symbol on the rock from the Maren carcass but what kind of flower is this, it didn't look like any flower that I know, then again I don't know much about flowers"

Lory's eyes widened in shock soon she started to recall her memories of what happened after they succeeded in taking down Maren, at that time they accidentally found a strange rock buried inside the beast carcass which may be the reason for Maren's transformation.

But a lot of things happened after that, which was why Lory had completely forgotten about it, but she remembered Garrof and Lloyd wanting to check their findings, "Have you asked someone to check it?" Lory asked.

"It took a long time to find the right person because I can't just trust this matter to anyone, but I finally found the right person," Garrof puffed his chest.

Lloyd massaged his head with a worried face "Don't tell me you asked her!"

Garrof crosses his arms on his chest and shrugs nonchalantly "She's the best person in this field furthermore we can trust her"

Lloyd's shoulders dropped weakly beside him "I know, but she..."

"Yup, I said to her if he manages to find out about this you will take her on a Hot date!" Garrof guffawed without an ounce of guilt for selling out his best friend.

Lloyd throws a menacing look at Garrof "I thought you were my brother"

Garrof sighed while patting Lloyd's shoulder "Sorry buddy, you must take it for the team, will ya"

Lloyd gritted his teeth trying to hold back his anger, on the other hand, Lory's curiosity piqued "Hey, who are we talking about?"

"Serena Shawn, a famous archaeologist and historian who later became involved with the investigation behind the emergence of Nazareth and also the demon parasite," explained Garrof.

"She also works part-time as a bounty hunter" Lloyd interjected.

"Interesting woman" Lory commented.

"She is" Garrof nodded in agreement "And what makes it more interesting is that she was a citizen of Dolza, but after the Dark War ended, she released an article about the history between the black dragon Nazareth and the Lucient family, the problem is that based on the sources Serena got from the ancient manuscripts that the interaction between Nazareth and Lucient is not as bad as the history depicted, so why did Nazareth—"

Lloyd nudged Garrof's arm to tell him to stop talking, Garrof remembered that King Marcus, Lory's father, died as a result of the Nazareth attack which also destroyed almost his entire kingdom, Garrof realized he had slipped, "Umm... pardon my pun-"

Lory shook her head instead of being sad, her eyes sparkled with interest, "No-no-no, no problem, please tell me more about it!"

"Oh...um" Garrof hesitated a bit but saw Lory's curious expression and continued. "According to Serena based on the old parchment, she found King Lucient took pity on the dragon therefore he didn't kill the dragon, instead he sealed the creature"

Lory was silent, he remembered Lazarus was sealed because the king of Lucient at that time couldn't kill him but Nazareth didn't have the power close to Lazarus so if her ancestor decided to seal the Dragon instead it must be because there was a valid reason.

"This woman named Serena, can we trust her? You said she's from Dolza, does she have anything to do with the S.A.I.N.T. organization?" said Lory worriedly.

"Well, Serena was exiled from Dolza because of a journal article she wrote, even though she was offered a hefty amount of money to withdraw her article and denounce it as fantasy or something but of course she refused, a stubborn woman like her would never do that even you put gun on her head" Garrof laughed.

Lloyd snorted "And it did, you know she almost died a few times because of this and after they destroyed her entire reputation and hard work she had no other choice but to live in hiding until now."

Garrof's eyes twinkled as he teased him "And you said you didn't care about it"

"That's not what I meant..." Lloyd grumbled.

"Why was she exiled just because of that?" Lory was perplexed.

Garrof clicks his tongue in annoyance "After the Dark War ended, Luxemborough and Dolza used this to blame the Dark Age war on the Lucient family because the Lucient family's influence after the war even exceeded that of their previous generation, and that scared them.

They didn't want the only flaw they could use and manipulate to disappear just like that, they couldn't let this happen so that's why they used all means to ruin Serena's reputation, some people even tried to kill her, but thankfully, she wasn't an easy woman to get rid off"

"They had to ruin Lucient's reputation because that was the only way they could appear as a virtuous organization - the savior of the new world - the Saintess and the holly knights Paladin, in the end, everything was just one big farce!" Lloyd snorted disdainfully.

"Can we contact Serena to see how far the investigation is going?" Lori asked.

"I think it would be easier if Lloyd made the call." Garrof's eyes fell on Lloyd.

Lloyd pursed his lips and pouted, "Why me?" He complained.

"Well, you know how moody she is, she might not answer my call when she's not in the mood but if it's you she'll pick it up before the phone rings twice," even though Garrof sounded like he was teasing Lloyd but his expression showed confidence.

Of course, Lloyd will not trust him, "Shut up, you just messed with me!" Lloyd huffed.

"Well if you don't believe me..." Garrof took out his cell phone then proceeded to make a call after the call connected Garrof waited...and waited...kept waiting he checked his phone as he waited but still no one answered not long after the sounds of disconected were heard.mGarrof closed the phone and then said, "See..."

Under Garrof and Lory's eyes, Lloyd reluctantly took out his phone but then realized he didn't have Serena's phone number "Wait, what's her number"? instantly a 'Ding' sound was heard.

"I've sent it to you!" Garrof looks ecstatic as if waiting for a good show to happen.

Garrof reaction made Lory curious even more thus she also waited expectantly, meanwhile, Lloyd glared at Garrof as he proceeded to make the call, a moment later the sound of a dial tone was heard once, and shortly after the phone answered.

"Hey, darling you finally called me~" a sultry voice coming from behind the phone.

Lory's eyebrows rose in surprise while Garrof threw an 'I told you so,' expression at Lloyd.
