Chapter 1228: Imbuing elements (5)

With these orbs filled, I said to Puffer, "It's time to continue the experiments."

I didn't actually need to say this to her since she already looked like she wanted to snatch the orbs away.

But at least she waited for me to say something before coming forward to take the orbs.

True to her integrity as a researcher, Puffer didn't put the orbs into the hobgoblins right away. Instead, she brought them over to a lab bench and used some instruments to run some tests on them.

It was as if she was analyzing the elemental energy that was inside of the orbs.

It wasn't that she didn't trust it, it was that...

"This is even more concentrated elemental energy than the ones that I've been using." Puffer said with slightly knitted brows.

"Is that a problem?" Even though I knew what she was implying with this, I still asked this question.

The slight frown on her face quickly disappeared as she said with a shrug, "As long as you don't care what happens to them, then it isn't. Since the concentration of elemental energy is greater in these orbs, there's the chance that it will overwhelm them like the case with the zombie."

What Puffer said was already what I had been expecting, so I didn't seem surprised to hear this.

Instead, I just looked at the hobgoblins in silence for a bit.

After a while, I calmly said, "It's fine, I can always make more of them when the time comes. For now, this is more important."

Puffer raised a brow to look at me before suddenly saying with a smile, "I never thought that I would see a king like you, you really are something else. I might even be falling for you with the way that you see things."

A chill ran down my spine when I heard this.

With how many wives I already had, it wasn't as if I was looking to increase that number. Especially when it was someone like Puffer who was one of the Five Great Witches of the Sea. So I just gave an awkward cough before saying, "Just start the experiments already and stop thinking about these random things."

Puffer gave a chuckle before saying in a teasing voice, "But I'm not kidding."

I gave another awkward cough, but I didn't respond this time.

She was just baiting me for a response after all, there was no need for me to walk into this trap willingly.

Especially since there was someone whose glare was currently piercing my back.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

In the end, Puffer lost interest in me as she brought the orbs filled with elemental energy over

to hobgoblins. Without any hesitation, she put the first one into the first hobgoblin.

Only she didn't stop with just one.

She continued by putting the rest of the orbs into the rest of the hobgoblins.

A bitter smile appeared on my face when I saw her doing this.

After all, I knew that she did this on purpose.

If she were to do this, there was no doubt that something big would happen if this experiment failed. That was why she suddenly ran out of the cage after putting the orbs into the hobgoblins.

It was enough to show that she knew the dangers of doing this.

If all of the hobgoblins were to collapse at the same time...

Still, it was already too late to think about it, so we just observed the reactions from the hobgoblins.

There were red, yellow, green, and other coloured lights that appeared around the various hobgoblins.

This was the representation of the various forms of elemental energy that filled them.

It even seemed like they would burst from the amount of elemental energy that was filling them.

But eventually the lights disappeared.

It seemed that the hobgoblins had been able to endure the baptism of elemental energy that had been imbued into them and had gotten that energy under their control.

Though before doing anything else, Puffer turned around to look at me as if she was waiting for me confirmation.

I didn't say anything to her as I looked at the hobgoblins.

After looking at them for a bit, I said, "Show me your spells."

The hobgoblins raised their hands and they did the same thing as the first hobgoblin.

All of them raised their hands and gathered the elemental energy to start casting spells, though the spells that they cast weren't really spells. Even though they were able to gather the elemental energy, the same thing happened where they weren't able to control it properly.

The same thing happened where they tried to gather flames, dirt, wind, or other elements, but they just couldn't form them into anything.

It seemed that without practice, none of the hobgoblins would be able to cast spells.

It seemed that they lacked the knowledge to properly use the elemental energy that they had been imbued with.

But it didn't seem like Puffer cared as her eyes lit up seeing all of this.

It was clear that she was filled with excitement over the fact that everything worked out the way that she wanted it to work out.

Though when she pulled out the scalpel, I had to stop her.

The hobgoblins were important since they were a success, so it wasn't as if I could let Puffer

do what she wanted with them.

"Can we mass produce them?"

Puffer was caught off guard when she heard this before slowly nodding and shaking her head.

It was as if she caught between agreeing to this and denying this.

"What's the problem?"

Puffer didn't answer right away, but eventually she said, "There's not enough orbs."

Even though we had defeated many demons from the detached demon army, there were only

so many orbs that we were able to get from them. After all, most of them surrendered without fighting instead fighting to the end.

The few that were killed died because they had been experimented on.

So there were only so many orbs that we had to experiment with.

"It seems like I'll have to think of a solution." I said to myself while stroking my chin.
