“Yes, you’re too loud. You scared me and the baby,” Gu Huanhuan said, playfully pouting.

“Oh, right. Sorry, my dear. I’m just so happy. I can’t believe our baby is already on the way,” Wen Chi said, his words a bit jumbled with excitement.

“Yes, it’s quite a surprise for me too,” Gu Huanhuan replied softly.

“But you’ve just found out you’re pregnant. Won’t filming be too much for you?” Wen Chi asked, worried. In the early stages, the baby is still unstable, and too much strain isn’t good.

“It’s okay. I only have a few days left, just a few more scenes. Nothing too intense, just regular filming. Don’t worry,” Gu Huanhuan reassured him, suddenly feeling that telling Wen Chi now might not have been the best idea. He’d probably be on edge for the next few days.

She should have waited until filming was done and she was back home to tell him, but she was too eager to share the good news.

“Alright, I’ll arrange my work in the next couple of days and come to be with you. After you finish filming, I’ll bring you home,” Wen Chi said, still not completely reassured.

“No need, Zhao is taking good care of me. I’m not as delicate as you think. It was just the smell of the meat that made me react. I’ll stick to lighter foods, and I’ll be fine,” Gu Huanhuan didn’t want him to worry too much. It was just the beginning, and with a long pregnancy ahead, she feared Wen Chi might end up with a few grey hairs before the baby was even born.

“Alright, but when you come back, I’ll be there to pick you up,” Wen Chi insisted, wanting to see his wife as soon as possible.

“Okay, I’m going to rest for a bit. I’ll shoot a few scenes this afternoon. We’ll see each other soon,” Gu Huanhuan said lightly.

“Okay.”

After they hung up, Wen Chi couldn’t calm down for a long time. He couldn’t believe he was going to be a father so soon. It was incredible.

But more than anything, he felt grateful to Gu Huanhuan. For a successful actress to get pregnant and put her career on hold was a rare and precious thing.

Wen Chi silently vowed to treat Gu Huanhuan well, making her feel that marrying him was the right choice.

After resting for two hours, Gu Huanhuan felt much better. Without the smell of food, she didn’t feel nauseous.

When she returned to the set in the afternoon, a fellow actor discreetly told her that the day’s progress had been severely delayed because Qin Wan’er couldn’t get into character and had many takes.

The director had a stern look, visibly upset. He was likely regretting casting her for this role out of obligation. He hadn’t expected much from her but hadn’t anticipated it would be this bad—truly unbearable.

Since the scandal, Susie had started taking on more sultry roles, but she still had decent acting skills, unlike Qin Wan’er, who only knew how to flirt with the camera.

Her actions were unnatural, her expressions wooden, lacking any real emotion or liveliness. It was all just forced and artificial.

The director had thought that casting her in an unimportant role wouldn’t be a big deal, but now it seemed like one bad apple really could spoil the whole bunch.

When Gu Huanhuan arrived, the director’s expression softened a bit. “Huanhuan, are you feeling better?” he asked with concern.

“Yes, much better. Let’s shoot my scenes this afternoon,” Gu Huanhuan wanted to finish filming as soon as possible so she could go home.

“Good. You get into character quickly, so we should be able to wrap up soon. Get into the mood,” the director instructed before going to make preparations.

Gu Huanhuan nodded.

Qin Wan’er overheard and sulked in the corner.

The director was so biased, always accommodating Gu Huanhuan.

“This is too much. She rests when she wants and shoots when she wants, with no regard for anyone else’s feelings,” Qin Wan’er fumed, feeling it was downright outrageous.
