Gu Huanhuan returned to the hotel and had barely lain down when Zhao arrived with the items from the pharmacy.

Eager to know the result, Gu Huanhuan hurried to the bathroom.

Moments later, she stood there in a daze, her intuition confirmed. Her mind went blank. Although she had always wanted a child, the reality felt like a dream.

She emerged from the bathroom a few minutes later, a mysterious look on her face.

“Did I guess right?” Zhao was even more anxious, but knowing her trustworthiness, Gu Huanhuan nodded and shared the good news.

“That’s wonderful! Your baby will be adorable. You should tell Dr. Wen the good news right away,” Zhao laughed.

Just then, her familiar ringtone interrupted their conversation. Gu Huanhuan glanced at the caller ID and froze. Speak of the devil.

Was this some kind of telepathic connection?

She smiled and answered the call.

Zhao, seeing Gu Huanhuan’s sweet expression, guessed who it was and quietly left the room, closing the door behind her to give them some privacy.

“What are you doing?” Wen Chi’s gentle voice came through the phone. Gu Huanhuan licked her lips and replied softly, “Resting at the hotel.”

“Oh? No filming today?” Wen Chi’s voice rose in surprise. “That’s rare, a workaholic is taking a break.”

His teasing tone came through. He knew his wife was dedicated to her work.

“You’re not feeling unwell, are you?” He suddenly sounded worried.

Wen Chi had just come out of the operating room and hadn’t seen Gu Huanhuan in over a month since his last visit. He’d been too busy to find time to visit her on set.

“Yeah, my chest feels tight, and I feel nauseous,” Gu Huanhuan answered honestly.

Was this the same Wen Chi who was a professor in the obstetrics and gynecology department?

“Maybe you’ve got heatstroke? Have you been filming in the sun? Drink more water; the sun’s really harsh lately,” Wen Chi suggested with concern.

Gu Huanhuan was stunned. Even the smartest people could be clueless about personal matters.

She almost rolled her eyes. Despite her hints, he didn’t get it. They hadn’t used any contraception.

Fine, maybe her hints weren’t clear enough.

“No, we were filming indoors today. I threw up because of the smell of soup dumplings,” Gu Huanhuan explained, hoping he’d understand.

But she was wrong. Wen Chi hesitated and said, “Food outside isn’t hygienic. You should be careful what you eat.”

For the first time, Gu Huanhuan realized Wen Chi wasn’t as sharp as she thought. How could he not consider pregnancy?

“Got it, Dr. Wen. Now, I have news for you, and you might get a bit excited,” Gu Huanhuan decided to be direct.

“What news?” Wen Chi sounded nervous.

“Dr. Wen, you’re going to be a dad. My symptoms are normal pregnancy reactions. I was hinting at it, but you didn’t catch on. Let’s hope our child isn’t as dense as you,” Gu Huanhuan teased.

“What? I’m going to be a dad? Thank heavens, we finally made it!” Wen Chi exclaimed excitedly.
