Chapter 23 Peace

The night was quiet but Vell on the other hand was furious, barely containing his rage. He let someone or something that knew about his framing get away. it ate him him unbelievably that the ground beneath him was sinking due to the pressure coming from.

[master-]

"SHUT THE FUCK UP! YOU, YOU ALSO KNOW SOMETHING, I JUST KNOW IT, WHO SENT YOU TO ME, WHAT IS YOUR REAL GOAL IN ALL OF THIS."

[..... I can't say anything because you told-]

"THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP TALKING TO ME."

[Yes....master.]

Wren rubber herself against him, trying to calm him down but this changed nothing, his mind was wandering too far until he finally reached a breaking point.

"FUUUUUUCK!!!!!"

His roar was loud, filled with raw emotion and power. the ground itself shook and even Yenna who passed out woke up, confused at the situation. She approached him with the intention of placing her hand gently on the his shoulder but after seeing the vibe around him, she maintained a safe distance.

"Hey, are you ok? what happened to that ominous figure?"

"....leave me alone please, i don't want to lash out on you."

"Ok." She knew better than to annoy him. She left him alone and went back to sit next to the fire while taking occasional glances at him.

'just what happened for him to be in such a bad mood? I wonder if singing would cheer him up...yeah, it should be fine, he helped me out a lot, i can at least do this for him.'

Even the thought was making her body shake from embarrassment, thinking about what if he doesn't like it or laughs at her, will her heart be able to take it.

"Here goes nothing."

She closed her eyes, drawing in a deep, calming breath. Her voice started soft, as if testing the waters of her own courage. She thought about life, love, and the fleeting beauty of peace, things she often clung to in her quiet moments. The melody was tender, carrying a warm, soothing rhythm like a lullaby to the restless night.

"When morning breaks, the world anew,

A sky of gold, a brighter hue,Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Each breath we take, a gift, a sign,

Of fleeting moments, sweet, divine."

Her gentle voice reach his eyes and although his power was still on edge, he was listening to her singing, his thoughts slowly being washed away. Her voice carried a purity that seemed to fill the air, weaving through the tension around him.

She imagined fields of wildflowers swaying in the breeze, the laughter of loved ones, and the gentle stillness that followed a storm.

"The hands we hold, the hearts we share,

A bond of love beyond despair.

Through every trial, through every fight,

We find our peace in love's soft light."

He turned around, calm and watching her sing, she looked beautiful in his eyes and her singing brought him comfort, cleared up his thoughts.

"Though darkness creeps and shadows fall,

The light of hope will guide us all.

In every heart, a spark remains,

A beacon shining through the pain."

"So let us walk with gentle grace,

Through every path, through time, through space.

With love as guide, and life as song,

Together, we will journey long."

Her voice trailed off and her eyes were fixed on the fire before she looked up, hearing Vell clapping. A smile greeted her, a real smile, unlike any he has given her so far and this made her heart skip a beat, she as happy, sad, shy, too many emotions happening at once.

"That was...beautiful, you have such a soothing voice...thank you for that, i needed it."

Yenna was panicking, her heart racing like crazy. "I-I just thought you might... feel better. I wasn't sure if you'd like it." she stammered, avoiding his gaze, her hands twisting the edge of her shirt nervously.

He got up and began walking over to her which just make panic even more. She wanted to run away but her body could not move, she just sat there until he arrived and sat next to her.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, the crackling flames filling the silence. She could feel the warmth of his presence beside her, but it was the calm in his expression that surprised her most.

"You know, I've been so caught up in my anger, my need for answers... I forgot there are still good things in this world. Things worth holding on to." He glanced at her, his eyes softer now. "Your voice reminded me of that."

Her cheeks flushed, her hands fidgeting as she tried to form a coherent response. "I-I didn't mean to interrupt or anything… I just thought…"

"You thought I needed it," he finished for her, offering her another, genuine smile. "And you were right."

For the first time, she allowed herself to look directly at him, finding his calm presence reassuring despite the overwhelming energy that had surrounded him moments before.

"Does it always... feel like this?" she asked hesitantly, still looking at him, tightly holding her shirt for courage.

He raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"Carrying so much. The anger, the pain. It feels like it's... breaking you."

His expression darkened briefly, the weight of her words striking closer than he expected. He leaned back slightly, gazing at the stars, remembering all that happened and all the things he did, especially in the sewers.

"....It does. Sometimes it feels like it's all I am now, a bundle of rage and regrets. But…" He glanced at her again, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Tonight reminded me that maybe there's more. If I let myself see it."

She hesitated, then tentatively reached out, placing a hand on his arm.

"You don't have to carry it alone, you know. Even if you feel like no one can understand… I'll try."

He looked at her hand, then back at her, surprised by the sincerity in her voice. He didn't pull away, instead placing his own hand lightly over hers.

"Thank you. That means more than you know."

The moment lingered between them, a fragile connection formed amidst the chaos of their lives. Her heart raced and she felt a warmth spreading through her chest, not just from the fire but from the genuine gratitude in his gaze.

He chuckled softly, breaking the tension. "Why are so nervous, did you think about it, what i asked you back at your house?"

'eh, why is he bringing that up right now.'

She removed her hand and stood up in a straight line, mechanically shifted her body in the other direction and looked down for a few seconds.

"O-Oh, that...i am still not ready to give an answer. can i think about it some more?"

"Hahah, So adorable...sure, take your time."

For the first time in months, he finally felt like his old self, all the rage, pain, he let it all go and he felt free, it was a great feeling for him. He glanced at his hand and he imitated the figure from earlier, creating a similar orb to it then crushing it, with a smile on his face.

"So that's how you do it huh, interesting."

'Yes, just this once, i should let go of the rage and just relax....the sky sure is beautiful.'
