Chapter 112: I'm Home
Chapter 112: I'm Home
[3rd POV]
It was only after the machine's tenth loud beep that Seto understood what had happened. He had won, and he had achieved a goal that he had desperately strived for.
Snapping out of his daze, he glanced at the Duel Disk. Currents crackled audibly as the well- maintained device was destroyed beyond recognition, and the device was unable to handle the strain of the new summoning method.
Groaning, Seto felt an intense burning sensation, and he quickly removed his cards before tossing the broken device to the side. Thankfully, none of his Duel Monster cards were damaged.
"Seto, your arm!" Rushing towards him, Yuna grasped his arm and examined his wounds. The sleeve was singed black, revealing red skin suffered from burns.
Calling upon Nurse Dragonmaid, Yuna ordered the spirit to tend to Seto's wounds. The maid readily agreed and smoothly applied ointments to the burns before wrapping everything with clean bandages.
Like a hawk, Yuna watched the entire process without blinking. When the treatment ended, she finally relaxed, sinking to the ground with a sigh. Finding this adorable, Seto unknowingly smiled.
"What's so funny?" Yuna questioned, and Seto's smile quickly vanished as he tried to act maturely.
Sitting alongside her, they were close enough for their fingers to touch as he stared at the broken Duel Disk in the distance.
"Was this enough?" Seto asked and gently grasped her hand.
Mulling over his words, Yuna placed her remaining hand over her chest as she felt her own heart thrashing wildly against her ribcage.
Yuna suffered a complete defeat, and Seto did something that she thought wasn't possible at this time...
"It's more than enough..." Yuna muttered with a small smile, "It's funny. No matter how many lives I have lived, I always seem to fall for you over and over again..."
Blushing sheepishly, she carefully took out the Millennium Key and presented it to Seto, "Do you want to see what our past is like?"
Staring at the golden artifact in Yuna's hand, Seto anxiously reached out and grasped the Millennium Key.
The moment his finger touched the artifact's surface, a sharp pain assaulted his brain. It felt like he was pulled into a vacuum, and nostalgic memories were crammed into his mind.
Groaning in pain, Seto clutched his head, his pupils shaking as he endured the intense sensation. It was finally some time before his breathing slowed down, and he was able to reorganise his thoughts, convincing himself that he was currently living in the present, not the past.
"Seto..." Yuna called with concern while carefully holding him.
Touching his face, Seto felt a tear drop as the woman that he loved deeply in his past life overlapped with Yuna and he let out a quiet gasp.
"Is it really you?" He uttered hesitantly and placed his hand over her cheek.
With a tearful smile, Yuna nodded. Unable to respond, Seto tightly hugged her, fearing that the woman he still longed for after eons would disappear if he let go.
"You must have endured so much... But I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere." Yuna soothed gently, "I'm sorry that it have taken this long...
"How much do you remember?" Yuna asked anxiously while sitting close.
"I..." Seto paused, deep in thought. "I can recall our past life together as if it were yesterday."
"And that's three thousand years ago... It's strange. That people we cared about have already passed away so long ago, and there's not even a grave or a keepsake to help us remember them..."
"Yuna...."
"Sorry, I got caught up in the moment. Like you have said, it truly felt like it was just yesterday."
"I don't know whether to laugh and move on or wallow in grief." She admitted with a pained expression. However, it soon transformed into a small smile.
"But I think I will be okay. There's other people that now cares about me. I'm also glad that Seto is here with me as well..."
Mumbling, Yuna averted her gaze and squirmed in her seat. Watching this, Seto chuckled and gently patted her head in comfort.
Staring at her face, Seto reminences of their times together in the past. The woman that he gave his heart to three thousand years ago has returned.
However, the sorrow Seto went through continued to bore deeply in his chest. This time, he promised to himself that this time, he won't mess it up.
"I love you..." Seto confessed quietly enough for her to hear. "I wasn't able to say it enough, and I regretted it all my life. But not anymore, and I will make sure you never doubt my feelings ever again."
Stunned by his affectionate words, Yuna gawked at Seto in shock. Her body froze completely as his words kept replaying in her mind, "Ah..." Before Yuna realised, several teardrops dripped down her face.
Embarrassed, she quickly wiped away her tears and blushed. Taking a deep breath, Yuna calmed down, and she smiled. It was a very bright smile, and her overjoyed expression was deeply etched in Seto's mind.
Seto missed this feeling and forgot how addictive it was. Laughing, Yuna deliberately leaned forward, and Seto quickly caught her.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting..." Yuna mumbled sheepishly, "And thank you for not giving up on me... Then and now..."
"I love you too Seto..."
Leaning close, both of their lips met simultaneously. Closing their eyes, they enjoyed this moment, something that they missed...
Suddenly, Seto's chest glowed, and a strange heat overwhelmed him. Before he could realise what was happening, a beam of light shot out of his body and formed into the figure of a Blue-Eyed White Dragon.
Eyes widening, he watched the Blue-Eyes White Dragon roar before diving towards Yuna. Unbothered, Yuna raised her hand, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon went back into a beam of light and entered her palm.
Closing her eyes, she reabsorbed the spirit back into her body, and the last piece of the puzzle was placed. As Blue-Eyes White Dragon's energy flowed into her, Yuna felt a surge of
strength, and her appearance also showed change.
Her eye colour became much clearer than before while her hair lightened into a whiter shade
of blue.
"Your appearance..." Seto pointed out as Yuna ran her fingers down her hair.
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon has always been my main spirit, and my appearance as Kisara was mainly because of that."
Smiling with contentment, she stared at the sun, which was finally setting as night slowly arrived, "Let's just stay like this, just a bit longer."
"What's the rush? We're not going anywhere." Seto questioned, and Yuna chuckled...
"I said a lot of rude things to some people in the past week," she muttered regretfully. I need
to try to apologise to them all, so it's best if I clear my head before then. There's also school
tomorrow..."
"I understand..." Seto smiled, "Let's just enjoy this time..."
Smiling, the two leaned against each other as they felt the warmth of their body, "Welcome
home, Kisara..." Seto muttered quietly and Yuna turned to him with a smile.
"Nn!" Together, they shared each other's warmth while gazing at the stars...
Next Day...
[Yuna's POV]
Feeling the sunlight against my face, I slowly opened my eyes. Yawning, I sat up and found myself back in my bedroom. I don't remember when I fell asleep, but Seto must have carried
me back home.
Just imagining the scene made me embarrassed. Fortunately, I kept the house relatively clean even during my memory loss, so nothing strange was lying around.
After shaking off any lingering drowsiness, I went to the bathroom to clean myself before emerging with a refreshed smile. As I was about to change, I suddenly felt two presences
behind me.
When I turned around, I was quite surprised to find the House Dragonmaid and my new spirit, Lady's Dragonmaid, standing quietly. Before I could even react, the two maids quickly dressed me with ease, and in mere moments, I was wearing the familiar school uniform.
As they continued to fix my appearance, House Dragonmaid and Lady's Dragonmaid simultaneously reached for the hairbrush on the table. However, as their hands struck each other, a sudden chill swept through the room.
Despite their smiles, I could see the electricity cackling between their eyes. The two maids tightly gripped the wooden hairbrush, unwilling to let go.
"Stop!" I yelled when I heard the brush making an unnatural creaking noise, and I stopped the
two before it exploded in our faces.
Since the two refused to relent to each other, I eventually summoned Laundry Dragonmaid, who happily brushed my hair while sitting on my lap.
Ignoring the two maids' jealous gaze, I continuously patted Laundry Dragonmaid's head
while my mind began to wander.
After unlocking my memories, the last time I used the System was to get the last few cards I
needed to duel Seto. Naturally, after that I have pretty much spent up all my credits. I also no longer have any tasks left for me as Holactie explained that the main purpose of the System in the first place was to help me adapt to this world much more smoothly with a game-like
mechanic.
There's really no more purpose other than to store the abundance amount of Duel Monster cards I have. Other than that, the reward I retrieved for the beating the Trial of Memories was quite interesting. It was a single gray slip with filled hieroglyphics. Holactie explained that by tearing the piece of paper, I'm able to have a meeting with the Goddess herself.
Realising how valuable this reward was, I immediately store it into someplace safe. Even if a robber broke in, they won't think a piece of unreadable paper was anything worth stealing... Thinking of the safe place I mentioned, the doorbell suddenly rang loudly and I called back my spirits before moving to entrance of my home. Opening the door, I watched Seto break into a small smile, "Are you ready?"
Nodding, I followed him downstairs, where a car was waiting for us. I paused and Seto noticed
before stopping beside me, "Is there something wrong?"
"The school isn't actually that far from where I live. How about we walk instead?" I
suggested, and he readily agreed.
Walking side by side, a comfortable silence enveloped us and I found myself enjoying this moment of peacefulness.
"It's just like in the past, isn't it?" He suddenly said out of the blue, and I nodded. During our lives in Egypt, Seto always escorted me to class. No matter how many times I
insisted that it was fine, he still went out of his way to guide me, even if the location was far away. While dwelling on the old memories, I couldn't help but think about our relationship
now.
Wait....
I suddenly froze as one of Aki's memories flashed briefly in my head. During the Trial of Memories, I technically was able to possess the memories of both Aki and Kisara, so it's essentially two of the same people in one place.
That means Aki has seen things that Kisara couldn't and vice versa. I remember a conversation Aki had with Priest Seto. My face turned slightly red from shock and embarrassment.
"I... I remember now..." I stammered and fanned my face, "You told me that you were going
to ask for my hand in marriage..."
"Ah..." Seto also stopped, and his eyes widened slightly, "That's correct... I believe I was
planning to propose after defeating Thief King Bakura... But I never really got the chance..."
"T... Then..." My pupils darted frantically, and Seto laughed.
"I have no plans on attempting again anytime soon..."
"W.. Why?" I asked curiously before sheepishly waving my hands, "It's not that I'm
disappointed or anything!"
Smiling bitterly, Seto shrugged, "I just don't think I'm ready yet...."
I stopped, stared at his melancholic expression, and sighed softly, "I told you already. You
need to stop blaming yourself for what happened. It was my decision to sacrifice myself, so
it's alright."
"I will try..." Seto nodded.
"Good," I smiled and leaned against his shoulder as we resumed our stroll, "But besides the
point... Does that mean you will try again in the future?"
Observing at his reaction, Seto seemed unfazed and retorted, "Don't you think we're a bit too
young to be talking about things like this?"
"Well I'm... Just a little curious that's all..."
"What if I propose now, will you say yes?"
Suddenly, Seto grabbed both of my hand and knelt on one knee. As he stared at me intently.
Being completely caught off guard, I froze and my face turned bright red as my imagination
ran wild.
As he reached into his pocket, I screamed inwardly. This have to be a joke right?! Right here?!
Right now?!
*Flick*
However, before I could register what was happening, I felt a tap as Seto mischievously
flicked my forehead, "Relax, I'm just messing with you... You should look at your face."
Stunned by this awful prank. I don't know whether to feel angry or shame. Pouting, I quickened my pace as Seto's laughter echoed behind me.
Gritting my teeth, I fanned my heated face and turned around, "You should really take responsibility for you words!! Beside, I might really just say yes..."
This time it was Seto who flinched and he stared at me in shock. Before he could speak up, I
ran away as I enjoyed the sweet satisfaction of payback for the rest of the walk...
A few minutes later...
By the time we arrived at Domino High, there were already other students by the entrance.
Watching in the distance, I gently rubbed against my face, and my expression returned to its usual blank state.
It was more comfortable this way, as I have always shown the same blank face every time I'm
at school. I also maintained this appearance during my time as Aki, so there's not really a point in changing now.
Glimpsing at Seto, I noticed that his smile had also vanished, replaced by his regular, cynical frown. Grinning inwardly, we approached the gate, and heads began to turn our way.
I could hear their curious whispers, but I held back a groan. "Are they bothering you?" Seto asked, and I shook my head.
"I just don't understand why we're worth paying attention to..."
"From their perspective, it may seem like we fought, but it's not until now that we made up,"
Seto explained nonchalantly, and I averted my gaze. Well, he's not exactly wrong to say we
fought... Thankfully, when we arrived at the classroom, the gazes directed towards us lessened as the
students also needed to go to their own classes. Stepping into the room, I was greeted with a tense silence as everyone observed me nervously.
Sighing, I felt apologetic when I recalled the various things I said to distance myself from
everyone. Approaching the front row of the classroom, I stopped by Yugi's desk, and he looked up at me in surprise.
"S... Sano?" He called awkwardly.
"I want to apologise," I said suddenly, catching him and his friends off guard, "I wasn't really
myself..."
"It's okay," Yugi quickly shook his head, "We heard what happened, so its not really your
fault."
Smiling awkwardly, his eyes suddenly wandered towards the Millennium Key, hanging around my neck. Understanding his gaze, I quietly whispered, "Meet me on the rooftop during lunch, I want to talk to you about something important."
With one last glance, I left Yugi's desk and moved towards my seat. At the corner of my vision,
I saw Seto gazing at me with a questioning look. Smiling calmly, I shrugged, and he frowned
slightly before nodding in acceptance.
By the time lunchtime arrived, I was already waiting on the roof. It wasn't long before the
door opened, and Yugi appeared with an awkward smile.
"Sorry for being late," He said, and I shook my head.
"You're just in time. Please sit." I gestured at the chairs and desks that had been placed
earlier. "Don't worry. This is not going to take long."
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Yugi asked.
"Before we start, could you hold this? This will make our conversation much easier." I
replied, holding out my Millennium Key.
Confused, Yugi followed my instructions, and his finger wrapped around the Millennium Key.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
I smiled as the artifact activated, and I slipped into his subconsciousness. When I gathered my bearings, I found myself inside a massive labyrinth filled with stairs
going in various directions, leading into different rooms. From my memories, some of these rooms lead to death traps, while only one was Atem's true soul room.
Thankfully, I didn't have to risk my life exploring each room as I stared at the figure walking down the stairs.
"Sano, what are you doing here?" Atem questioned, surprised by my sudden visit.
As we stood face to face, the Pharaoh calmly scanned my body before frowning in confusion
and asking, "Your soul... Kisara?"
"Greetings, Your Highness." I bowed dramatically before laughing. "But I guess I can no longer call you that."
"What happened to you?" Atem asked as we sat beside each other. Leaving nothing hidden, I
calmly explained everything that had transpired in the past few weeks. Listening, Atem showed an incredulous expression, but he nodded in understanding as there
had been more absurd things he had experienced during his time... Meanwhile, when this happened in Yugi's subconsciousness, Yugi tilted his head as we
quietly stared at each other.
"Um, is this supposed to do something?" he laughed awkwardly while still holding the
Millennium Key.
"Ha ha, don't worry about it," I replied and put the artifact away. Maintaining my smile, I
took out my Duel Monster cards, "Mutou, do you care for a game?"
I hope you enjoy it.
