Chapter 73 Second Event
While I was hospitalized, it seems the announcement for the second event was made.
This time, the event appears to focus on production jobs.
One of the features of Sugo is that every character is required to have at least one production job. So, this event is likely targeted at all players.
By the way, in The World, the first event also seemed to be aimed at production jobs.
The event notice said something along the lines of: "We received a lot of complaints from production-focused players, but don't worry! We made sure the materials won't disappear, and you can bring them back home. We love you all, so we decided to offer this service."
Apparently, it was legal.
Some of the players with production jobs avoided combat and focused solely on crafting. At the time, this was considered disruptive play, and those players were publicly criticized.
It seems that Sugo's management tolerates various playstyles after all.
Nevertheless, I don't intend to aim for a top rank in this event.
To put it bluntly, it's impossible. Given that my character is built for combat, I can't suddenly excel in production-related activities.
Also, my skill setup is primarily geared toward combat.
However, Liora and Samurai are both motivated.
They've been diligently tending to the World Tree. Samurai, in particular, has been repeatedly practicing [Woodworking] using materials from the World Tree.
Right now, both of them are working hard on their production skills at our base near the World Tree.
"A cultural festival for this event, huh? It feels a bit strange."
A giant school island has been prepared, and we are divided into classes to set up exhibits. There's also a stage performance category, and it seems some people are already preparing for it.
Liora would probably do better aiming for the stage with her [Kagura] skills rather than focusing on [Gardening]. She could also consider being a maid in a maid café.
Given the growing number of production skills, let's take a fresh look at our statuses.

Title: The One Who Spreads Death
Unique Skill: Killing Blade
We've grown quite strong.
Liora has spent over a month in this world without me. She seems to have undergone considerable training and has regained the levels she lost when I used [Kamui Manifestation].
Liora's [Loneliness Resistance] has increased significantly.
She has also acquired a new title. After wiping out that band of thieves, she earned the title [The One Who Spreads Death].
The effect of this title is "Grants bonus damage against all living creatures."
It's a very broad skill.
Her previous title, [Great Sin: Parent Slayer], granted her bonus damage against those older than her. Thus, her new title has a much wider range.
However, it does not work against the undead.
But since Liora has the light attribute, she's already effective against the undead. Before we fight Gehenna again, we'll make sure to change her title.
It's unfortunate that titles can't be changed during battle.
I also received the title [Harbinger of Death].
However, I find [Appraisal Negation] more useful, so I won't be changing my title.
"By the way, Liora, I noticed you haven't used the [Berserk] skill yet."
"Is it a powerful skill?"
"It's a trump card, but… I'm not sure."
Liora's new skill, [Berserk], is a toggle-type skill.
In games, it's what you'd call a toggle ability. It's similar to Liora's [Angel's Factor].
This [Berserk] is known for being a difficult skill to handle (all our skills seem to be like that).
The user loses their rationality in exchange for a massive stat boost.
At the same time, they lose the ability to use Arts, and any damage they take is doubled.
However, as a trade-off, the user gains "Immunity to Incapacitation," "Immunity to Mental Attacks," and "Significant Stat Boosts."
This was meant to counter the situation in the bandit fight where Liora was immobilized and couldn't fight.
Oddly enough, the skill suits Liora quite well.
With the [Heavenly Wheel] Arts, which doubles Liora's HP, the doubled damage would be no different from normal damage. Plus, the scythe skill [Blade] is applied beforehand, so the effect continues.
The inability to switch blades is a downside, though.
Regeneration skills also remain active.
My [Regeneration] works just fine, and since I'm the user, "rapid HP recovery in exchange for MP" is still possible.
"The question is, how much rationality will be lost… Let's test it out. Liora, stay away from the World Tree for now."
From what I've seen in videos, this [Berserk] is a disastrous skill.
Users just rampage uncontrollably. Compared to them, even Rowro seemed like a calm gentleman. But since it has many advantages, it's perfect as a last resort.
Players who possess this skill generally treat it like a self-destruct move.
Most of them seem to lose their character after using it.
After moving a considerable distance, I gave Liora the order.
"Try going berserk."
"Mm… Okay! [Berserk]…"
"..."
I watched Liora closely.
I was both terrified and curious to see how cute little Liora would rampage. I waited for two minutes while observing her, but…
"Um, Liora? How's the [Berserk] going?"
"Hm? I'm using it… right now."
"You're speaking normally? Any violent urges?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
Liora tilted her head in confusion.
She didn't seem any different from usual. Normally, the user would lose their rationality.
Floating around her, I checked her from every angle.
From 360 degrees, she just looked like a beautiful little girl. Adorable, yes, but there were no visible signs of losing rationality.
Liora tilted her head cutely, looking puzzled.
"Liora, do you feel any uncontrollable emotions?"
"I want to hug God…"
"Um, is that what you're feeling?"
I wasn't quite sure, but I approached Liora's chest. She hugged me tightly, but this seemed just like her usual behavior.
Did I perhaps acquire a skill with a similar name by mistake?
To test, I had her punch a nearby tree with her bare hands, and she broke it in half.
It turns out Liora has been in a constant state of mama
I'll switch off the skill [Madness] for now.
After all, not being able to use Arts is a disadvantage. It's not a skill you can keep on constantly and stay powerful.
By the way, [Slaughter Blade] is a skill, so it can still be used while [Madness] is active. The same goes for weapon skills.
Only Arts are unusable while it's active.
Liora has been steadily breaking down. Normally a regen tank, she can switch into a hyper-aggressive attacker… quite impressive. Enjoy exclusive adventures from empire
I'd hate it if the enemy used her, but since she's on my side, there's no problem.
Currently, we are on "Cultural Festival Island."
During the preparation period for the event, we can warp here freely. The island is quite large, about the size of a small town.
There are several servers, so it's not overly crowded.
"We're in the Black Class, huh? Looks like we can interfere with the other classes."
"Defeat the enemy!"
"That's also an option. It seems like we can attack other classes. If we get counterattacked and lose, we'll be disqualified from the event. But it's reassuring that we can only lose once."
We should stay alert for enemy attacks during the event.
Samurai is always on guard, but her [Soundwave] skill is still in development. I could summon Rouro into the enemy base to harass them endlessly… but holding grudges can wait for later.
There's no need to try that hard to win.
This event has "Individual Rankings" and "Class Rankings." I can't win in the former due to my skill setup, and for the latter, there's only so much I can do on my own.
Liora and I will focus on the exhibitions.
I'll be entering in the "Alchemy Item" and "Sculpture" categories. For the latter, I'm certain to win first place.
We could also enter paintings and music, but that might be overkill.
Liora is going to create a flower bed on "Cultural Festival Island" using her [Gardening] skill. That will also count as an exhibition, and it will surely brighten up the island.
Liora, busy with her gardening, turns around with a bashful smile.
"Once I'm done, I'll offer flowers to God…!"
"I'll be looking forward to it."
"Yes!"
Excited, Liora turns back to her garden. All of the materials are rare, hard-earned seeds. They'll be nice to look at and useful too.
Samurai seems to be making something as well. Even with her usual squinty expression, she seems quite pleased as she files down wood. Rouro, on the other hand, can only destroy things, so there's nothing for him to do.
We step outside from the Black Group's classroom, our warp destination.
