The Male Leads Are Trapped in My House

Chapter 6

“If you really were my sister’s savior, there’d be no reason for you to run away like this, would there? Suspicious.”

He’d clearly been itching to dig into my identity even if I had stayed! And earlier, he spoke so politely like a gentleman, but the moment I ran, he dropped the formalities and started treating me like a criminal.

Even as Ethan grabbed me by the back of my collar and dragged me out, I clutched my hood tightly, making sure my face stayed hidden.

“Hey, take off the hood.”

“Why are you trying to take off someone else’s hood? What are you, a pervert? Help! Somebody help!”

“You’re acting ungrateful. I’ve been pretty polite so far. Want me to show you what rough really looks like?”

The glare Ethan shot me was deadly. I froze for a moment, reading the glint of madness in his eyes. Right. This guy’s just as much of a lunatic as I remembered.

“You’re desperately hiding your face—I need to know who you are. You clearly know something about that monster. What were you doing here at this hour?”

It was when Ethan grabbed the edge of my hood.

“Ahhh!”

A high-pitched scream, presumably Aurora’s, echoed from far away.

Ethan hesitated, startled, and I used that moment to shove him off and bolt again.

“Damn it!”

I heard him curse as he glanced between my retreating figure and the direction of Aurora’s scream.

While running, I suddenly noticed something—the brooch that had been fastening my robe was gone.

“Seriously, Cherry? What is this, Cinderella? Of all places, why’d you have to drop that there?”

I cursed my carelessness and considered turning back, but it was already too late. Ethan had picked it up from the ground.

He inspected the brooch briefly before slipping it into the pocket of his police uniform. Then he ran off toward the direction of Aurora’s scream. I slumped to the ground with a heavy sigh.

The brooch Ethan picked up didn’t have the Sinclair family crest on it. But to me, it was far more important than that. It was the last gift my late father had given me.

The brooch had a rubellite gemstone that matched my hair color, and golden flowers resembling my eye color were intricately set around it.

On the back, the initials “C. S.” were engraved.

Still, there was no way he’d connect those initials to “Cherry Sinclair.” After all, the Cherry Sinclair everyone knew wouldn’t be caught dead bashing monsters in some deserted alley.

The shock of losing my father’s final gift hit me hard, but survival came first.

‘Yeah. He won’t figure it out.’

What bothered me more was Aurora’s sudden scream. The monster was definitely dead, so why had she screamed again?@@novelbin@@

I felt worried but couldn’t go back. Not with the risk of Ethan catching me again.

Instead, I checked the box of Elphinus herbs secured in my belt pouch. Right. At least I achieved my goal. Safe and sound.
