Chapter 212
"Did you go through the same thing?"
"I overcame it. I woke up in the end, didn't I? The reason I was asleep for hundreds of years was because of the side effects of the spring water. The same thing Cherry is experiencing now."
"The same side effects?"
"I was forced into deep sleep, while Cherry is losing control of her mind? It seems that since our abilities are different, so are the side effects. It’s not complicated—she just has to stay in control. In the end, it’s a battle of willpower."
Ethan let out a quiet sigh.
At least Cherry’s side effect wasn’t being put into an involuntary slumber for centuries like Ezra. That alone was a relief. He glanced at Cherry’s sleeping face and muttered,
"If it were that easy, I wouldn’t be this worried. Cherry has already lost control before. She couldn’t be stopped at all."
"She wouldn’t have lost it all at once. There must have been signs. Were there any moments where she seemed capable of controlling it?"
"Moments of control, huh…"
Signs.
Ethan repeated the word to himself, searching through his memories.
There were plenty of moments when Cherry seemed on the verge of losing herself.
Surviving in a ruined world wasn’t easy, after all.
"Well, even if you don’t know, that’s fine. You can start figuring it out from now on."
"What do you think? About Cherry’s mind. Do you think she can control it?"
"For now, let’s watch and see. I need to examine her condition myself before I can say for sure."@@novelbin@@
Ezra gazed at Cherry with an almost fascinated look.
A being like himself.
Ethan would never be able to imagine the kind of pain Cherry and Ezra were enduring right now.
Accepting something like this into their bodies, something they couldn’t understand or predict, was an agonizing, terrifying ordeal.
He remembered the horror, the despair, when he first went through it himself.
The only person in this world who could understand him was Cherry.
What do you think?
