Chapter 45 - 45
Nicholas kept looking at Klaus, wondering why he couldn’t remember him. In all the past eight lives he had relived, none had a swordsman or even a trainee named Klaus Lionhart. After all, a trainee displaying such monstrous stamina ability would have been hard to forget, even if, in all his rebirth cycles, he experienced hell.
’Even in my first life when I was just a weak-minded trainee, if a trainee had shown such capabilities, I would have definitely remembered him. In all the lives that I lived, during this time, the only trainee that was demarking himself from the rest of us was always Alex.’
’After the Lionhart family fell and the Rikxia Empire got destroyed, hell went loose in the entire Runiya continent. The Seven Monarchs started to fall one by one, starting with Roman Lionhart, who was supposed to be the strongest among them.’
’I got lucky and survived long enough until I stumbled upon, guided by the strings of fate to the Babel Tower. There I found the knowledge, artifacts, and ability to save what was left of the Runiya Continent. I allied myself with new powerhouses like Alex Lionhart and all the Apostles who were willing to join our cause. After five years of intense battles, we saved the Runiya continent. Ah,’ Nicholas sighed, remembering his first life with a tinge of pain in his heart.
’Just to be invaded by other continents, and when we thought that everything was lost, the Dragyr Race came out of nowhere and repelled the invasion and returned to their seclusion as soon as the invasion failed.’
’By that time, a more insidious force emerged, sealing the doom of the Runiya continent and mine as well.’
’Luckily for me, when I died, I regressed to the time when I was just one year of age with all my memories of the future, thanks to the Nine Life ring,’ Nicholas thought while looking at the tattoo in the form of a snake biting its tail that was circling his index finger like a ring.
’In my second life, I tried to warn everybody, but no one believed me. They started to trust me when I began to predict major events that would happen in Rikxia or in other kingdoms or empires of the Runiya continent.’ Nôv(el)B\\jnn
’News of me being able to somewhat predict the future leaked outside of House Lionhart, and one day I was kidnapped by the Icarus Cult, an organization part of the Seven Sins, a group composed of seven different organizations that follow the dark path in the Runiya Continent. There, I was treated as the reincarnation of Icarus.’
’I tried to turn this into an advantage and make them help me prevent the fall of House Lionhart, which for me was the catalyst of all the malus that befell the Runiya continent. Sadly, even with their help, we failed.’
’Having predicted the fall of one of the most powerful families on the continent and the empire they led, my position inside the Icarus Cult became on par with the Icarus Cult’s leader himself. Half of the members venerated me as if I were Icarus himself. Threatened by my growing influence inside the cult, the cult leader took my life.’
’And again I regressed in time, but this time at the tender age of two. I decided to take a different approach this time; this time I wanted to build knowledge and power. I trained myself to the bone and managed to become an elite member of one of Lionhart’s armed groups. There, I partook in various high-risk missions, and with all the achievements I received, I built my power inside House Lionhart.’
’But it still wasn’t enough. I watched House Lionhart fall, but this time I was on the front line. With all the experience I built since my first life, I survived, and the calamities that happened during my first life happened. But this time, I only focused on myself. I built my power and knowledge, I trained and learned different arts in preparation for my third life. I honed my skills until the day I succumbed.’
’In my third life, I regressed at the tender age of three. This time, I started to prepare for my fourth life earlier. I became an elite swordsman earlier, but I refused to join any of Lionhart’s armed forces. Instead, I betrayed them and joined an organization part of the Seven Sins called Dawn. There, I fed upon their knowledge and teachings and watched the continent fall from their perspective.’
’In my fourth life, I regressed at the age of four. This time also, I chose to prepare for my next life instead of trying to save the continent. Knowledge was what I was after. I wanted to experience the fall of the continent from a different clan or organization perspective, whether they followed the light or dark path, while still feeding on their teachings.’
’I did that until I started my eighth regressed cycle where I regressed at the age of eight. This time, I was ready. I demarked myself so much that I became the leader of one of the most powerful armed groups inside Lionhart, at a very young age at that. Even Alex, whom I learned in my fifth life, was, in fact, an Apostle, wasn’t a match for me.’
’With the experience and knowledge I had built in all my previous lives, I managed to prevent the fall of House Lionhart. But as if the heavens themselves wanted the continent to fall, another calamity happened that almost led to the same events that happened during my first life.’
’But this time, I was strong enough to prevent most of the calamities that befell the Runiya continent. But when I thought that everything was going well, the people that were regarded as humanity’s greatest warriors showed their real face.’ Nicholas remembered, clenching his fists until they bled.
’Those damn Apostles showed their true colors. In all my previous lives, they were considered humanity’s greatest hope. But in reality, they were the ones behind all the calamities that befell the Runiya continent. They were just dolls controlled and groomed by humanity’s greatest enemy, the Arkdieu’s race.’
What do you think?
