The Genius Mage Was Reincarnated Into A Swordsman Family

Chapter 43 - 43

Roman Lionhart and Melo, his most trusted man, couldn’t believe what they just heard—especially Roman. He knew better than anyone the condition his grandson was in. Just a month ago, resisting a small fraction of his aura had left Klaus in terrible shape. What Roman admired most about Klaus was his resilience. Despite his bad condition, Klaus never backed down while talking to him and still resisted his oppressive aura—a feat beyond anyone in Klaus’s condition.

As much as he wanted to believe Erina’s statement, he knew very well the capabilities of his other grandson, Alex Lionhart. Alex’s growth was unprecedented in Lionhart’s history. At just twelve years of age, he had already achieved a Green core. Nicholas Davoss, not part of the Lionhart direct or collateral line but from a vassal family, was equally a monster in Roman’s eyes. So, for Erina to say that his sick grandson managed to outperform these two growing geniuses sounded like a bad joke in Roman’s ears.

"I don’t appreciate stupid jokes, especially those made within these walls," Roman said with a cold tone that changed the room temperature to almost zero degrees Celsius (34F). With just a wave of his hand, both Erina and Rick started to levitate into the air, as if an invisible hand held them.

"It’s not a joke, my lor-rd," Rick tried to say. Erina couldn’t even talk anymore because of the pressure holding her so tight; she even had a hard time breathing.

"Rick, you are also a Lionhart, so you know the price you will pay if you keep saying bullsh*t," Roman said, his tone turning the room even colder. Frostbite started to spread on Rick and Erina’s bodies.

"It’s t-the t-truth, my lord; I will never dare to lie to you," Rick said, trying to stay conscious as the invisible pressure holding him became tighter.

"My lord, please, at least let them explain," Melo implored, bowing his head to Roman.

"..." Roman didn’t say anything but released the invisible pressure that was holding them into the air. Both Rick and Erina, seasoned sword users, fell while regaining their balance.

"Tell me more," Roman said, looking at Rick. Erina seemed still to be in the position where she couldn’t talk normally; the invisible pressure that Roman released was holding her by her neck. Now that the pressure was released, she bore visible red marks in the shape of fingers around her neck, proof of the intense pressure she endured.

"Unlike how he looked a month ago, his physique dramatically improved. His body looked like someone who trained every day for many months. It’s not that much lacking compared to Alex or Nicholas’s physique. The weirdest part is that he seemed as if his stamina was almost limitless. We saw him run with the same pace for five hours straight without being out of breath," Rick tried to explain; the look he had in his eyes signaled that he wasn’t lying.

Roman, renowned for his ability to conceal his emotions, found himself unable to mask the shock that coursed through him. The revelation about Klaus’s newfound abilities defied comprehension, leaving the ruler of Rikxia visibly astounded and intrigued.

"H-how is that possible?" Roman asked with a tone filled with bewilderment. Erina knew the answer. Since being blind, her mana perception was incomparable to any human. She knew that Klaus was using magic; she just didn’t know how he was able to use it since she couldn’t sense any magic circle around his heart. But after how Roman just treated her, she didn’t even want to explain what she noticed. It would just look like she was crazy, and Roman could kill her on the spot for wasting his time with senseless reasons.

"I don’t know, my lord, but if I have to guess, Ludovic probably gave him a Body Transformation Pill, that and all the Elixir Lord Raphael provided for him..." Rick said but was interrupted by Roman.

"No. In the condition he was in, feeding him a body transformation pill would have killed him. Despite the quality of the Elixirs Raphael provided, did Ludovic really find a solution to treat him, where Raphael and even I failed?" Roman mused, more to himself than to Rick.

’The Lord personally tried to heal him? Does that mean that he considered the kid to be part of the direct line?’ Rick thought to himself, surprised to hear that Roman Lionhart, the most uncaring person he could think of, went out of his way to try to treat his sick grandchild. Normally in the Lionhart family, the weak or the sick were just cast away, deemed useless for the family’s growth. In this family, strength and capabilities were everything.

"Interesting," Roman said to himself, and for the first time in twenty years, Rick saw a smile appear on Roman’s face.

’It looked like he really cares about that kid; I have to be careful not to get on this kid’s bad side,’ Rick thought, already anticipating what he needed to do not to get on Klaus’s bad side. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"You may leave," Roman said while dismissing his hand. Rick and Erina turned away and started walking towards the golden door that led to the exit when Roman interrupted their steps.

"Wait a moment," Roman said, causing both Erina and Rick to freeze.

"Take this," Roman said while waving his finger that was still on the armrest of his golden throne. Two vials flew in mid-air and dropped on Erina and Rick’s hands.

’Healing potions and high-grade ones,’ Rick thought while examining the vial in his hand.

"It’s a high-grade healing potion," Rick said, thinking that Erina couldn’t make sense of what she was holding.

They both gave a deep bow to Roman and left the audience Chamber.

After a few minutes to get his thoughts into order, Melo opened his mouth.

"My lord, if it is really true that Young Master Klaus is healed, you should probably pay more attention to him. After what happened at his sword selection ceremony, I have a feeling that he will accomplish great things."

"He certainly will."

Roman let a small smile evade his mouth again. What he liked most was for people to express the greatness of his grandchildren. Even if he was cold towards all his sons, except for Raphael, he had a very soft spot for all his grandchildren and Klaus in particular. He reminded him too much of himself; they both had silver hair and blue eyes, just like their founding ancestor. This proved that, just like their founding ancestor, they were born to accomplish great things.
