The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 442 Success

"Is that your official charge? Mm alright." Sekani put his two hands together in front of him, he didn't want them to cuff him from behind, moving would be much difficult.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

To make it so they cuffed him from the front he let them think he was giving himself away not wanting to get into another fight with the man, his men quickly cuffed Sekani without thinking.

Williams was smart to recognise what he'd done and didn't jump to attack him, he held himself back and tended to his bleeding face and cracked ribs.

He'd never received a beating quite like this, his lip was busted, nose broken and his eye was swollen. Williams was always the best at what he did, he was great at intimidating but he was an okay fighter.

This felt like an embarrassment he needed to amend. He just wasn't sure how he'd go about doing that, instead of thinking too much he took out another cigarette and lit it.

At the same breath, heavy boots sounded from the distance and in within seconds the men who left came back, Williams had expected them to be in tatters or at least soaked in blood.

A part of him respected Sekani, he couldn't exactly deny his fighting skills when they made him like this. He found it hard to haul insults at him for being a rat, if he was defeated by a rat that would make him much less than a rat and that bothered him.

He looked at them with utmost surprise, "report?" He demanded.

The officials took in his appearance, wondering what had happened but none from their group had the guts to ask their boss what happened to his face. It took them several seconds to answer him.

"Uh sir, we ran to the centre as you asked. The mine is there but it was empty sir, nothing but the tools to work were there." The other answered still very much interested in what transpired here.

The strange thing was the fact that Williams was the only one with a swollen face. They knew him as someone who could fight, so if he did fight someone there it was impossible in their eyes that they got out unscathed.

"Is that all?"

"No sir. There was a hole that was drilled through the maze walls from the mouth of the cave, the hole opened to the forest below."

He looked to Sekani who was smiling like an idiot and went past to Jesús who looked like he could kill them with looks alone.

"Was the hole recently drilled?"

"That's right sir, I'd say maybe a few minutes to an hour?"

He walked to Sekani, who stood and looked at him confidently.

"Where are they?"

"Where are who?" He played dumb.

"You know damn well who, this is your mine after all isn't it?"

Sekani let out a light laugh, "I've been a resident of the lower district all my life until late of last year when my son used tuition money to play that game. Now please entertain me with your answer, how the hell could I have owned this?"

"Obviously Mister Silva was your benefactor, he's here with you isn't he?"

"Indeed, he's here with me."

"Why did you come up this mountain?"

"Is this the official questioning?"

Williams considered him for a second and ordered his men to search the forest below because there was no way these people would make almost a thousand people disappear within minutes to an hour.

The man with his four trusted individuals escorted the two prisoners out of the mine. They weren't holding them this time, deciding to stay away not wanting to look like their boss.

The route they were taking was not the one through the train tracks, it was on the other side. Jesús and Sekani didn't doubt that they were walking to the cars they took up here and soon enough they would be in interrogation rooms.

"Do you have a plan?" Jesús asked not wanting to act alone, even he saw how bad this looked, he was certain that they would make it seem like the two of them were up there to erase evidence.

"Only if Wilfred sticks to it and doesn't act upon emotion." He answered curtly.

As though he'd forgotten about the people they came here with, his face relaxed a little bit. He concentrated, thinking back to the kind of person Wilfred was.

"Mm...He's kinda dependable. I guess I can calm down."

They went back and forth with different scenarios this could turn out, it was mostly Jesús who spoke. Sekani just nodded and said 'yes' a lot. They reached the the road at the bottom, with a lot of cars parked there.

Waiting only a few minutes the encourage that went to search the woods came back empty handed. Sekani breathed a sigh of relief, when they separated with Nikolai, the kid was in a pretty bad shape.

He was worried that he might not have made it down to the train, he was glad that he made it. Now he could completely relax, knowing that fate was on their side.

Williams didn't bother to ask them to report. He shoved the two prisoners in the car and rode with another officials and they were headed to the upper district, the headquarters of the Sanctauri government.

"Sir?" Williams was quick to call. "We got them, Silva and Waynworth but the slaves weren't there, they just up and disappeared."

"What the hell do you mean they just disappeared? I don't pay you for this Vlad, I pay for results not problems."

"With all due respect sir, you alarted me too late, now we're on our way to the government headquarters, to question them."

"I hope nothing goes wrong this time." Gilbert said feeling relief in his heart, even if anything would go wrong there was nothing connecting him to this.

"We've already searched them for cameras and listening devices they had nothing on them. We'll speak later." He dropped the call as they entered the gates of the building.
