The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 431 One-Sided

"Hey you two, watch Wilfred's back while he works on Nikolai incase guards show up. I can handle this." Sekani said confidently.

Grey and Jesús looked at each other and shrugged, they weren't sure there were any guards left with how they'd fought already but they nodded at the order, caution was never a bad thing.

Sekani smiled sadly, unknowing that Nikolai would give him permission to carry out his revenge but he was unconscious and they had no other way. He unfastened his tie.

Arnold looked at Sekani with contempt. He couldn't believe that someone like him was being made to answer to someone like that.

Sekani stood with his fighting stance, slightly regretting having a suit on. He watched as Arnold ran towards him for the third time since he gained his consciousness.

Upon arriving he threw a punch, he had a crazed look on his face. Killing must've been something he took joy in by the looks of it, his pathetic attempt at a punch was blocked and Sekani planted his right on his cheeks.

This made him stagger to the side, where he met Sekani's full kick. A constant loud ringing made itself known as he stood with his entire upper body facing down, he was heaving unbelieving that this was the man who would put him down.

Now that he was not fighting a child or a person who was scared of his status in society he could see that his fighting skills weren't so great. In Sekani, he hadn't met his match, he met someone who was far superior in every possible way.

Sekani on the other hand was taking it slow because he respected Nikolai too much. Ontop of that, he wanted to help the boy, the anger he carried all those years ago, even now, couldn't have been all that healthy for him.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

He just needed him to gain consciousness for all only a second and tell him whether he wanted to be the one to finish him off or not, at the moment, he didn't mind warming him up a bit, giving him a black eye or two.

What impressed him more than anything was the fact that much like his son, he had a knack for keep getting up when he's knocked down. Sekani had to be very carefully not to punch him to death, he was holding back.

"What? Someone like doesn't deserve your full strength?" Arnold asked spitting a mouthful of blood. "You think you're better than me?"

Sekani smiled sincerely, "I know I am."

The problem here were his emotions. The angrier he got, the more careless he was. Arnold wasn't that bad of a fighter, he wasn't on Sekani's level either but he was decent. That decency was cut in half when he couldn't keep his emotions on check.

In his anger, he was already rushing Sekani who dodged him at every turn. It angered him more that it didn't seem to take him much strength to dodge his punches.

He was a large man so every punch was coated with even greater energy and it took quite a lot out of him. Especially now that he was bleeding, tired and unsure whether he would get out of this alive.

"You know, there's a live feed sending video footage to Blakeson?" Arnold wasn't standing that far from Sekani when he said with confidence and a smile, pointing to Sekani's upper right.

By instinct Sekani looked, he knew that it was a trick because they couldn't have risked having technology that could possibly be hacked around a place like this, a place they visited.

But at that moment, he was being human, he only turned his head but Arnold was already in front of him about to throw a punch.

Sekani could feel him ontop of him, without turning back he bent his knees and used his elbow to hit him hard on the stomach.

Arnold entered fits of coughs.

"Nice try."

"Well, anything is fair in love and war isn't it?" He said through laboured breaths, he sounded much more confident than usual.

His hands were both hidden behind him as he propped himself up to face Sekani. He was in pain but he was smiling widely.

"Now, you die." He said matter-of-factly showing his hands at last which were holding Sekani's gun.

It was the old gun taken from one of the guards but without the hospital or first aid from Wilfred it was not a doubt that they could all die there if Arnold decided to shoot.

"I wouldn't be so sure." Sekani shot back, he was very scared but he wasn't going to show it.

Bullets from the gun weren't so fast that it was impossible to dodge them, especially when one was expecting to be shot at.

Arnold laughed maniacally, "even in the face of death you think you're some kind of messiah! These people you're coming to save? They've already resigned to their fate. Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are to take that away from them?"

He sounded insane but he wasn't entirely wrong. Yes these people were taken from their homes against their will, but for them to not even try to escape would mean their wills were broken possibly beyond repair.

Taking them and trying to migrate them to normal society would possibly have opposite effects. They were likely to fall into an endless abyss of depression, and endup even killing themselves.

But Sekani wasn't ready to give up on them. He was willing to pay for their therapies to heal their minds away from this traumatic experience they were forced into.

"People's wills aren't so easily broken, your son is proof of that. You have learned nothing." Sekani spat disgusted.

At the same time, he was thinking of a thousand ways to disarm the man. None of the ways were hundred percent, he wanted to curse fate. He had children to go home to, he couldn't die here.
