The Dreamer's POV

Chapter 238 In Motion

[1 month: 29 days: 02 hours]

Clear, pristine and desolate, nothing sounded but the melody of the cold wind. The Icy frost plains was incredibly cold and was the northernmost point of the continent, it was once said that demons like icy statues dwelled in these parts until the goddess Iysa exterminated them with her light.

The extreme low temperatures made it incredibly hard for anything to survive these parts. There were no trees, no birds, no critter, nothing to give this blue hell a sense of life.

The cold however bothered Park Hyun Soo as a grain of sand might bother a person, he walked seamlessly, his hands tucked into his black jacket and face partly tucked in his scarf.

He stood at a hill, peering down at a frozen lake below, particularly the thing jutting and embedded in it.

"There." He said and leaped with a thum, causing an avalanche down the hill.

Just before he was about to land on the field of ice, he stopped, levitating. He had activated <Flight>

The thing he was looking for–what he had gone on a search for, and one of the few reasons he was working with the Nine headed Herald. He needed information in this world, and who best to give it than the oldest living creatures in the world, it was both a good deal for him, and for them.

What stood before little fifteen year old Park Hyun Soo was a colossal creature, frozen and dead for centuries. It's body had long been stolen into the plain.

It was icy blue, its hands were hidden, like they were beneath the lake, and from its wrist upward was above.

Your next chapter awaits on empire

Its large maw was wide open like it was about to snap a creature with its jaws. Yes, it seemed to have been fighting something just before its death.

Large spikes jutted from its back, like icicles, giving it an even more monstrous appearance. Whatever this creature was, it was certain, it was a menace.

Park pulled down his scarf a little, and he breath. His eyes left the monster, and went across his surrounding, from the hills around, to the little trees of icy blue, till his eyes ended up back at the monument of a monster.

"It is almost as if this place was a creation from an ice attack directed at this creature. Hmmm… it hit and the impact had it spread, creating a new inhospitable biome in the process. An interesting hypothesis, but who could have been so powerful as to do this? The gods… tch! Can I become a god here? That would be interesting. It doesn't matter, I have gotten what I wanted."

He slowly brought his hand to the frozen unholy thing, and rested it on its forearm, and then he raised his head, staring the creature in the eyes.

A blue light suddenly engulfed both him and the monster, and there was none. The frozen plain was desolate and void of life once again.

*******

The air was dry, hot and ridden with dust, the ground threatening to sink a person in.

The sun was out, radiating its brilliance, adding to the terrible heat that was ubiquitous.

There was not a single life form in sight, no plants, reptiles or any animals of that sort.

A young man travelled these parts on foot, his face largely masked by pieces of clothes. His outfit were of thick leather, and everything he had on had taken the color of the desert, of sun-bleached sand.

He looked forward, noticing something coming.

'Another sandstorm.' He thought as he spotted the dust storm that was moving his way.

Nevertheless, he looked untroubled and continued his walk forward.

Soon the coast was clear, he had passed through the sandstorm and still strove to go forward.

He suddenly bent, arching and then began coughing. Too much sand had gotten into his mouth despite the wraped shawl around it.

He had been walking across this desolate orange land for days now, his vision set on his destination.

He stopped and checked on his system.

[1 month: 29 days: 02 hours]

'Hmmm, In just a few hours. I wonder how the rank list would be if a ranking list was remade, would I still be at the top?' Caleb thought before resuming his cough.

'So much sand.' he could have gotten an item to block sand from getting to his face and mouth, but he had seemed it too expensive, and he enjoyed the challenge that the place posed, he wanted to cross this horrible harsh desert as how a typical underpowered human would, and he had realized that no human would have reached the other side, the sun was just too hot, it was like it threatened to sip every juice in any that passes beneath it.

He heard a sound, like a shift in sand, and he moved his eyes to where he thought it came. He was right, the subtle sound was too silent to be perceived by your average person, but he had a special skill to help detect sounds, it was no problem for him.

Some meters away, a spot had sunken, almost like what was beneath the sand surface which was most likely sand had shifted.

"Hmmm…" he squinted his eyes, focusing intently on the spot, and the spot multiplied, forming a circle around him.

He readied himself,

'Must be quite the trouble if they could survive here.'

Sand bursted up, falling on him, momentarily clouding his vision, and he heard sounds of hostile creatures, they were coming at him.

"YEEEH!"

In a flicker of blue light, he disappeared from the spot of their encirclement, appeared behind one and then delivered a chop to its neck. Luckily, their anatomy was somewhat similar to human's and the strike knocked it out.

The others weren't startled by this, they rushed at him.

The shawl couldn't show it, but he grinned underneath,

'Your scales would be useful.'

And with the swiftness of a seasoned assassin, and the force of a fighter, he knocked and even killed some in the process.

He looked at the reptile looking creatures,

'Ugly things.'

And he threw forward his hand activating his absorption skill.

<Absorption> the group of savages got sucked in into his palm as if it were a vacuum cleaner, and the man continued on his journey.

*******

My minions stood in front of me on the lawn, I grilled them with questions about the night, about what might have transpired or if they saw anything suspicious, and they gave negative responses. There truly wasn't anything strange besides the participant appearing and destroying the palace.

"You're all dismissed." I said to them and turned away, my frown immediately evening out to a stoic expressionless face.

The King and his family were dead now, and there's practically nothing I could do. Theo had gone to his room and shut himself in, and I remained restless over the impending tower opening, it was just a few hours before the tower would come open.

I missed the excitement that comes with killing freely, of not feeling any weight or virtue holding one back, I'll get to feel that way soon.

"Perhaps the boss will be tougher this time." that I hoped, it had been a while since I had a real challenge.

I checked through my stats, it had been a while since I did, since I had little need to do so.

[Additional Information]

I smirked seeing the sea of information, and a hunger surfaced within me.

"I must get stronger, I will get stronger. I'll be your equal soon Lucy Fer, just you wait."

"Perhaps I'll get a light armour once I get some currency, something to boost my defenses, yes." I said to myself, though I was durable, I left my body fairly exposed. Chances were that I was going to face tougher opponents soon. I must be durable enough not to die from one shot power moves, I must become unbreakable.

I called Drius and informed him of my momentary leave soon, and urged him to keep a watchful eye on Theo. I decided to leave a few of my demonified imperial knights around just in case.

And so I got into the room designated to me in the mansion, I changed and waited.

[2 months: 0 days: 0 minutes]

It was time.
