The creature attacking the group was a lower-tier humanoid mutant called a 'Dead Runner.' This particular one specialized in strength.
Though called Dead Runners, they looked and moved exactly like zombies.
Compared to other mutants, they were merely humans infected by a virus, so the approach to dealing with them was straightforward.
Just hit them.
The gauntlet vibrated and generated a reddish force field along its contours.
I then slammed the gauntlet into the Dead Runner's face.

With the sound of its skull shattering, it screamed in agony and was flung away.
