Rise of the Blood Sovereign

Chapter 89 Wan's Story

89  Wan's Story

"I have to admit, I was wondering why that moron would suddenly try to kill me." A voice behind Wan said as the latter gulped in fear as the cold steel of the dagger was touching his throat.

"So it was the two of you that had manipulated him into attacking me, I just don't understand why you did that?"

"I understand you guys have some sort of grudge against me, I understood that much from your conversation, but why?" Lyle asked Wan as the latter's eyes constricted in fear.

"Not gonna talk, huh?" Lyle asked Wan whose whole demeanor had changed.

No longer was he the calm man that talked with Olman and assured him that everything was going to be alright and that they would have their revenge. In his stead, a nervous, sweaty man whose knees had started shaking out of fear had appeared.

"I-I…" Wan tried to speak, but his words would not calm out, only stutters and unknown sounds that made Lyle sigh in annoyance.

"And here I thought you two were some kind of masterminds that would stay calm in distress, but it seems you are nothing more than a coward that needs to change his face in order to feel an ounce of bravery." Lyle's words shocked the man as he didn't know that Lyle knew about his ability.

The truth was that Lyle had quickly gone back to his house in order to get Adam to come with him.

The mansion where Morn was living was actually close by and his house was along the way.

Lyle knew that Morn had purchased the mansion in order to stay close to him and to gloat as his place was much bigger than Lyle's.

He didn't really bother even acknowledging the young man in the past so he didn't care, but it was now that he learned that the reason he bought the mansion was so that he, or to better be said so that Olman and Wan could keep an eye on him.

He didn't really bother even acknowledging the young man in the past so he didn't care, but it was now that he learned that the reason he bought the mansion was so that he, or to better be said so that Olman and Wan could keep an eye on him.

He quickly made his way into the mansion. The thugs that were located there and the defenses of the mansion were of subpar quality and upon seeing everything, Lyle actually sent Adam back as he felt absolutely no danger from the mansion or anyone inside.

Morn was a Bronze Knight, but he was the lowest of the low and the system's appearance had made him drop down to level 50, which was below Lyle by one level.

Adam himself was more than enough to take care of Morn, but Lyle wasn't about to kill the man as that would be as good as signing his own death notice.

He first made his way inside and started observing everything. He wanted to know how many people were present in the mansion, and who were those that Morn trusted.

It was then that he saw a man walking inside with distressed steps and upon following him a bit, Lyle found out that he was going directly to Morn.

He listened to their conversation and was able to see Olman and Wan leaving the office and how Wan's face changed. He grew interested in their conversation as he could tell that Olman was very close to Morn and probably held a lot of information.

It was then that he learned of their hatred of him and how it was the two of them that made Morn despise him to the point of trying to kill him via poison.

He was quite confused as to why the two held such great animosity toward him as he didn't know who they were at all. He tried to remember, but it was for naught as he truly had no idea who the two men were. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

He was quite curious about them, so he made his way over to Wan's room before the man had a chance to enter it. He went around and made his way inside, not sure whose room it was actually. Lyle only knew that the two had the rooms adjacent to each other, but not whose room he had entered.

Either one would be fine as Lyle could get enough information from either one. After Wan had entered, Lyle made his way over to him and placed his dagger at his throat in order to interrogate him, fully expecting the man not to speak a single word out of the anger he felt toward Lyle.

But the truth was that even though a similar thing happened and Wan was not talking, it was not out of bravery or anger, but out of pure cowardice and fear.

"Well, since you won't cooperate, I'll have to make you," Lyle said with a smile as he plunged his fangs into Wan's throat before forcing his arm over his mouth and making Wan drink his blood.

Wan's eyes rolled back as he slowly lost consciousness, only to quickly wake up as the transformation started happening.

Thanks to Wan being relatively strong and around level 40, his transformation was not as long or violent as Diana's and it was easy for Lyle to keep it down. After a mere 2 minutes, Wan's transformation ended and the man was staring at Lyle with eyes full of fear.

Even though he was now a vampire and a servant to Lyle, he still had his mind and thoughts. He was still Wan, only that now he could no longer go against any order Lyle would give him. He could feel that a mere glance from Lyle was enough to make his body shake and his mind start spinning.

Lyle then crouched down and stared Wan in his eyes as he ordered him to speak. Wan bit his lip, but was unable to go against Lyle's wishes and started telling him everything.

It turned out that Wan and Olman used to be servants inside a mansion a couple of years ago. Their lord was a young man who had inherited the mansion from his father and the young man was known for being quite a nice and polite boss.

He treated all of his staff well, and to Olman and Wan who had already switched their working places multiple times and were nearly homeless, he was like an angel that saved them.

They were given a salary and a place to live in. Their skills as servants were well respected by the others and the two bonded with each other over time, becoming very good friends.

It was the same young man that had seen through them and noticed the skills they possessed. Fully aware that he needed to have loyal men serving him, the young man started imparting their skills and gave them a chance to change their life and become powerful.

He taught them how to gather and use mana in order to improve their strength, and the two slowly made progress it was evident that although not incredibly talented, the two men both had the talent to become at least Bronze Knights in the future, which for a young man whose strongest man was below the Knight realm, was incredible and would benefit him immensely.

He gave them full control over everything and the two were suddenly only second to the young man. They had everything, good food, respect from others, and most importantly, a chance to become strong and rise above what they thought would be their entire lifetime.

They even became good friends with the young man and in a span of a couple of months, the three were inseparable.

That all ended one night when an assassin broke into the mansion and killed the young man.

The assassin was of course Lyle, and the assassination was quite an easy one that was forgettable. Back then he didn't have any disguise skills and would usually just wear a mask, but that mask had been ripped off his face when he assassinated the young man, so Olman and Wan managed to get a glimpse at his face.

After that, their lives turned around. They were kicked out of the mansion as it no longer had an owner.

They lived on the streets and had to resort to becoming thugs in order to survive.

The life of luxury they once had was gone, and it was all because of Lyle.

But worse than all, Lyle had killed a person they had started loving as a brother, and that was something they simply could not forgive. The two made it their life goal to get revenge, but they had no idea how they would do that since they didn't even know who the assassin was.

That all changed one day when they came across a dying assassin that had entered their hideout. The assassin was almost dead, and even though he was not willing to, he entrusted the two with a message that was supposed to be delivered by him after successfully assassinating his target, which he did.

They had asked him about a young assassin that had killed their friend way back, but the assassin had no idea who it could be. All he knew was that based on the time the assassination happened, it was probably the 'Shade' as he was a young assassin that was now building up quite a reputation.

He was said to be very young, but since nobody knew his real identity, it was impossible to be certain of that.

The two spent the following year following the news of what Lyle had done, and with each new assassination, they grew more certain that it was him that killed their friend. They had finished the mission the old assassin had entrusted them, which allowed them to enter the organization, but merely as the lowest-ranked assassins that barely had any power.

They were then able to meet Morn, and upon seeing how jealous he was of Lyle, they plotted to have him kill Lyle.

The worst thing about the entire thing was the fact that Wan was able to see Lyle's face right now, and he was certain that the young assassin that had killed their brother all those years ago was in fact not Lyle at all.
