Chapter 30

Chapter 30

A special guest had come to the emperor's drawing room. A large man draped in a dark blue velvet robe: Master Luminous.

The door opened, and Leto entered. He had just returned from a meeting, looking visibly busy.

Luminous stood up and greeted him with a reluctant expression.

“Greetings, Your Majesty.”

“Yes, thank you for coming all this way.”

Leto gestured for him to sit. The two sat across from each other on the sofa.

This was the first time they had met since Master Quinass’s funeral. The previous time had been during Leto’s coronation.

Even during their academy days, they had never gotten along. Leto’s straightforwardness clashed with Luminous’s emotional nature. On top of that, one was a magician and the other a knight. It was almost an instinctual repulsion.

“So, why did you summon me to the palace?”

“How’s the guild management going?”

“Fine. Thanks to your generous indifference.”

His tone was slightly sarcastic, but factually correct.

In the old days, the royal family managed the guild as a military facility. Magicians were crucial in frequent territorial wars.

Then, around three hundred years ago, the guild demanded independence from the royal family, resisting their militarization.

As a result, the guild gained independence, but relations with the royal family soured significantly, as evident between Luminous and Leto.

“I’m glad my indifference has kept you well.”

Leto responded with equal sarcasm, then pushed a document on the table toward him.

“Read this.”

“What is it?”

“I plan to establish a medical office in the palace.”

“What?!”@@novelbin@@
