Chapter 18
Chapter 18
I didn't expect him to be so embarrassed. He seemed like the kind of person who wouldn’t even blink at compliments or insults.
While he was cooling his face in the wind, he glanced at me.
"You seem to enjoy teasing me."
Teasing? I was just stating facts.
The mood lightened considerably. I spoke to him.
“You seem very busy these days. You’ve lost weight.”
“Is that so? I have some things on my mind.”
“Is it because of the Orléans affair?”
“No, that’s being handled separately... Actually, the captain of the royal guards retired. He’s been with me since my days as a prince, fighting on the front lines together.”@@novelbin@@
“The knight who guards the carriage now? He seemed too young to retire.”
“Are you talking about Hugo? He’s the new captain. He was the vice-captain until recently. The problem is finding a suitable new vice-captain. They’re either too young or not skilled enough.”
Personnel decisions are never easy, especially when choosing someone close to the royal family. The relationship with the Great Temple must also be considered.
An idea came to mind. There was a talented person right beside me. Someone with great ability but currently unemployed.
“Could I recommend someone?”
“You? Who?”
“Someone skilled and of the right age. Someone who values loyalty and can get along well with the knights.”
“Is there such a person?”
Leto showed interest.
“However, he’s a mage.”
He immediately shook his head.
“Not Sean.”
What do you think?
