Natural Disaster: I Started By Hoarding Tens Of Billions Of Supplies

Chapter 325: The Rumor Is True

Chapter 325: The Rumor Is True

Xue Wenjie looked at everyone there and said, "In collaboration with Professor Ye, we are also working on a machine to measure ability levels of the ability users. It should be ready within a few months."

Finally receiving some good news, Xu Qipeng's expression relaxed slightly. He nodded and said, "Well done. Thank you for your hard work, everyone."

Now that they had discussed what they knew about the fog, it was time to figure out how to keep the survivors alive. Xu Qipeng and the others spent hours discussing this problem before deciding to make an announcement.

In the afternoon, the survivor living in the Juncheng Military Base finally heard the official

news.

Sitting inside his tent, Chen Zizhen stared at the woman's body, which had begun to rot. Judging by the speed of decomposition, it seemed to be caused by the fog rather than the weather.

The foul stench of decay jolted Chen Zizhen back to his senses. After a moment of thought, he found a large plastic bag he had saved for emergencies and used it to wrap the corpse.

Once the bag was tied tightly, he dragged it out and placed it in the garbage pile. The base collects trash daily, so the plastic bag will likely be removed soon.

Although he felt bad leaving this woman's body here, he had no way to bury her. Instead of letting it rot and cause a plague, it's better to let the base burn it.

Chen Zizhen stared at the plastic bag for a while before turning and heading back to his tent. Fortunately, the garbage dump wasn't far away from his tent. Having lived in this area for months, he could navigate home with his eyes closed. Walking the two-hundred-meter street with limited visibility was no challenge for him.

By the time he returned to his tent, he heard voices but couldn't see more than two meters ahead. Curious, he followed the sound and found a group of survivors gathered around the notice board.

Joining the crowd, he turned to a middle-aged man nearby and asked, "Uncle, is the base finally making an announcement?"

The middle-aged man glanced at him, noting how Chen Zizhen had wrapped a scarf around his nose and mouth.

"The base just announced that we shouldn't go out in the fog," he replied. "Since you are already covering your face, you must know the fog can cause lung disease."

Chen Zizhen nodded, "I see."

The middle-aged man looked at him and reminded him, "Then you should stay at home. I just saw three people coughing to death. Other survivors all said these three people had lung disease because of the fog. No one dared to touch the bodies, so it was left on the roadside."

He sighed and worriedly added in a low voice, "If the officials don't take action, a plague may occur. Young man, you'd better save more supplies, just in case."

After hearing what the middle-aged man said, Chen Zizhen said, "I understand. Thank you, uncle, for reminding me."

After expressing his thanks, Chen Zizhen stepped closer to the notice board to read the announcement. Relief washed over him when he saw that the base would distribute food and water daily until the fog disappeared.

While he knew the rations would barely be enough to survive, he was content. At least he wouldn't have to risk his life searching for supplies in this thick fog.

As he turned to return to his tent, he overheard a conversation between two men nearby.

"Brother, I found the information you wanted," one man said.

The shorter man's eyes lit up with excitement. "Really?" he asked eagerly.

The taller man nodded, glancing around cautiously before speaking in a low voice. "Brother, this isn't the place to talk. Let's go to my tent."

After a brief pause, the shorter man agreed. "Let's go."

Watching them sneak off, Chen Zizhen hesitated for a second before deciding to follow. He didn't know what they were discussing, but he had a hunch it might change his life. Visibility was poor, but Chen Zizhen carefully tailed them to the taller man's tent.

Most people were hiding indoors, and their doors were tightly shut. Seizing the moment, he silently moved closer to the cardboard tent and squatted outside to eavesdrop.

Inside, the two men were already continuing their conversation.

"Quick, tell me what you found out," the shorter man urged as soon as he went into the tent.

The taller man sat down and said, "Brother, the rumor is true. There is an air raid shelter on one of the mountains outside Juncheng City."

"The people living there look healthy and clean. Some time ago, a group of survivors arrived, and I discovered that they actually had made contact once with the people living in that air raid shelter."

The shorter man's excitement was clear as he said, "That's great! We should head there as soon as the fog clears."

Hearing this, the taller man shook his head, "Brother, it's useless even if we go."

When the short man heard this, he frowned and asked, "Why do you say that?"

The tall man lowered his voice and replied, "I heard that the people living there are ruthless. I spent days tracking down all the survivors who had found the place before. They all said that the owner of that air raid base is a young man in his early twenties, and he kills without blinking an eye."

"Furthermore, they have only accepted three people so far. One of them is reportedly the CEO of the Gu Group. Based on this, I think we'd need to pay a lot of supplies to be allowed to live there so much that we might never afford it in this lifetime."

Hearing this, the short man frowned and asked, "Do you know how many people live there?"Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The tall man thought for a moment before answering, "I don't know the exact number, but it should be less than a hundred people."

The short man laughed when he heard that.
