Chapter 1157 Calming the Bison: A Lake

The Lava Bison let out a growl as its molten veins pulsated from the absorbed energy, shifting its attention to Jin who had struck it previously. The ground trembled with every step it took with its massive hooves as Jin braced himself for whatever the bison did next, knowing that they couldn't allow it near the ranch, at least not right now.

Reign, who stood back up, stared at the bison as he wiped the sweat from his brow, the heat coming from the bison intensifying thanks to the flames it had taken from Wolf.

"Wolf, just use the sword to pommel it if you must, flames are not working against it, maybe your chaos flames would, as they are different, but you might hurt the monster too much with them, so let's not try it."

Wolf nodded as his flames had been extinguished ever since the bison first absorbed them. "Yeah, I have a feeling that the bison won't be able to absorb too much from me, but if I test that out, it might cause immense damage."

As they talked, the bison moved, charging at Jin with anger. The human had previously struck and injured it, and it wanted payback.

Tank quickly appeared in front of Jin, his shield shimmering with energy as he locked eyes with the bison who continued charging, not caring for him. Shields then appeared in front of Tank, first one, then two, three, four, and then a fifth one.

Before the bison arrived, the shields shook and then got reinforced, glowing a bit and becoming more physical, stronger, and tougher to break.

The bison's charge was, however, akin to a speeding train, breaking through the shields one by one, barely slowing down before hitting Tank, who gritted his teeth as he was pushed back by the bison, only to grin as he pushed back as well, and after several seconds, he came to a stop, his feet creating two deep grooves that were about 15 meters long.

"Stopped ya," Tank said with a grin as he stared into the bison's eyes, which were still red with anger.

The Lava Bison snorted angrily, its molten eyes locked on Tank, who stood his ground with a smirk, his shield still glowing from the energy absorbed by the charge. The massive beast growled in frustration, digging its hooves into the ground as it prepared to launch another assault.

But Tank, already familiar with its movements, braced himself, the grooves from the earlier push still visible behind him.

"Keep it there!" Reign shouted, dashing toward the Lava Bison's side again, this time aiming for a more tactical strike. He wasn't looking to harm it—just to wear it down. His swords, glowing faintly with a mix of light and darkness, swung in arcs, aimed at the bison's legs. He knew a direct hit wouldn't do much, but perhaps targeting the joints could force it to lose balance.

As his sword connected, the bison staggered slightly, its footing momentarily lost. Tank used that brief opening to push forward, slamming his shield into the creature's massive chest. The bison grunted in response, more annoyed than hurt, but it was enough to keep it distracted.

"We're running out of time to calm it!" Beast yelled, summoning his Flood Dragon once again. The air chilled as the dragon coiled in the sky, its icy breath lowering the temperature around the Lava Bison. The scorching heat radiating from the bison began to ebb, but it was far from fully under control.

Mia, seeing Beast's approach, quickly followed suit. Her hands glowed as she quickly used her frost as well, encasing the bison in ice with the help of the dragon, forming a barrier to prevent it from breaking through. "That should slow it down if it charges again," she said, her voice tense.

The bison, however, showed no signs of retreating. Its veins pulsed brighter with every passing second, its rage building. It let out a deafening roar, shaking the ground beneath them and sending waves of heat rolling through the air. The ice Mia had formed began to melt and crack, unable to withstand the increasing temperature.

Shadow, who had been observing from a distance, suddenly appeared behind the bison. "We need to weaken it further. I'll try to disrupt its movement!" With a swift flicker of his form, Shadow became a blur, darting around the bison's legs and using his daggers to slice at its joints—not enough to wound, but enough to make the bison feel unstable.

As the Lava Bison roared again, it stumbled, its legs wobbling from the combined efforts of Reign, Tank, and Shadow. But even so, its fury wasn't abating. It was growing more frantic, its molten hide glowing hotter with every second.

"This thing's a ticking time bomb," Jin muttered, watching the creature carefully. "We can't let it continue attacking, the temperature is getting higher and higher, and it'll become too strong for us to stop without wounding it soon!"

Suddenly, a thought struck Beast. "Wait! My dragon can control water, and we have a lot of water in that lake over there. If we can cool it down enough, we might be able to subdue it!"

Reign nodded quickly. "Do it, Beast! We'll keep it busy!"

Beast raised his hand, summoning the Flood Dragon to the nearby lake. The dragon responded immediately, its blue scales shimmering as it dove into the water, sending ripples across the surface. Moments later, the entire pond lifted into the air in a massive wave, under the dragon's command.

"Everyone, get back!" Beast shouted as the dragon directed the water toward the Lava Bison. The others quickly moved out of the way, bracing for what came next.

With a powerful gesture from Beast, the water surged forward, crashing into the Lava Bison like a tidal wave. The sheer force of the water hit the bison head-on, dousing its molten hide and sending steam rising into the air. The bison let out another roar, this time not of rage, but of confusion. The sudden cold shocked its system, and its glowing veins began to dim.

The water started evaporating incredibly quickly, however. Steam rose around the bison, and soon, the entire area was covered by the steam that looked more akin to fog right now.

Mia and the dragon didn't stop there, however. Even though they couldn't see the bison, they could sense it, and they quickly went to work, using their abilities once again. The dragon's ability was not the same as Mia's, who could lower the temperature around her with her frost and control ice in that manner.

The dragon could summon ice, manipulate it, and wield it, but it couldn't just lower the temperature around an area, not without utilizing its frost breath, which was something it innately could do thanks to its dragon bloodline.

It quickly opened its mouth and spewed frost down at the bison while Mia exhaled deeply and extended her hands, causing the area that was being assaulted by the frost breath to start shining before the temperature started getting even lower.

The frost breath which was previously being spewed and running all over the place was contained thanks to Mia and the dragon working together, the frosty breath only focused right on the bison, lowering the temperature immensely very quickly.

Mia's forehead was getting covered in sweat as she continued using her frost, and the dragon was clearly getting tired as well as its wings no longer moved like before. They were getting a bit slower, weaker, as time passed.

But after several minutes, the two stopped, breathing heavily, but a smile was present on Mia's face.

"This should be enough I guess."

And it truly was.

The bison was covered in snow and ice, its body shaking, the molten veins no longer present, and its body smaller by a noticeable margin.

The bison grew by absorbing flames and lava, it was an animal that could be immensely powerful when it was close to a hot place, but when in water or a place that was very cold, the reserves of energy it had, which was the high temperature, would quickly plummet, making it much weaker.

The bison had already been charged up with plenty of energy the moment it had arrived, and taking Wolf's flames only made it stronger, but with Mia and the dragon working together, they were able to lower the heat and cause the energy it had absorbed to dissipate quickly.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

The bison was now no longer a threat.

"Good job." Reign said as Mia nodded while Beast arrived as well.

"Had it not been for your dragon using all that water, it would have been much more difficult," Mia said as Beast nodded.

"Yeah, luckily the lake was so close."

"Yeah, the lake –" Reign was about to talk when he suddenly stopped and glanced at the lake which was nearby.

"We didn't have a lake previously, right?"

"Now that you mention it, yeah," Beast said as Jin and the others all glanced at the lake as well, all of them realizing that there was no lake here before.

"How did we not notice its sudden appearance?"
