I, Viretta, Am Going to Hunt a Dragon

Chapter 144

When Ranken set the pot down on the floor, Iola and Saffron got off the dragon's body. Although there was no table, they didn’t mind and sat around the pot.

For having heard that the food might taste bad, the smell was surprisingly good.

Taking a bite of the bread, which had been warmed up, and adding some of the meat, it tasted much richer than the meat of a buffalo.

It wasn’t as sweet as beef, nor as dry as pork, but for the common folk who rarely tasted meat, it was a rare and good flavor.

"Ranken, you must be a good cook. This is delicious."@@novelbin@@

"Yeah, I guess it’s because he paid attention to the preparation. It tastes better than what we had before. It’s not the kind of taste you’d risk your life for, but if you had plenty of time and didn’t mind dying, someone might challenge it."

Saffron purely praised the cooking while chewing on the roasted meat.

Whether it was because Viretta had provided good ingredients or if it was the freshness of this dragon, it was much better than the ones they had eaten before.

"Compared to this one, the dragon we ate before was probably an old and sick one, so the taste is naturally different."

When they had only seen the dead dragons before, they had assumed all dragons were like that, but seeing a real dragon, they were certain. The dragon they had encountered before had been an old one, overtaken by younger dragons in its territory.

"And besides, while everyone was struggling to dismantle it, a lot of time passed."

Having slaughtered an old dragon after so much time had passed, it was no wonder the taste wasn’t great.

Compared to that, the young dragon’s meat, though somewhat tough from the quick cooking with a flash of lightning, was still quite edible. If served at a feast, it would be welcomed with open arms.
