Chapter 451 – Make a Tent? Easy!
A guide needed to be ready for the people they guide so they had the fullest experience.
However, a better guide would do better. They would prepare for any kind of situation, including the situation where they couldn't take their hover car offroad.
Unlike cars with wheels, hover cars could only move on the built road. They couldn't float on dirt. This was one of the car's weaknesses.
As a tropical island guide, that was unacceptable. There were many good locations located inside forests or places unreachable by road alone.
So, there was a need to mod the car slightly. If they couldn't reach it by floating, they just needed to make the car able to be driven off road.
How?
The answer was unexpectedly simple. Just add wheels!
"Wohoo!"
Gloria's car was also modded like that. With a press of button, wheels appeared and the car turned into something Max was familiar with, something that he was afraid of. His face paled when the guide drove into the forest like a madman.
'Fuck fuck fuck fuck! I shouldn't agree to appear in this show!'
Max swore he would get a medical and traumatic fee from BioShow. He would force Mr. Taka to help him get that.
This wasn't what he expected!
But Max had pride. He didn't scream at all even when he was scared. Not only scared for himself, but also for Lily. If this car crashed, both of them would be in danger.
Thankfully, the road became better after a while and the shaking disappeared. The car moved pretty stable and Max heaved a sigh of relief.
"Gloria." He called out to the guide, his voice lower than usual. "When we return, let's take the road."
"But that would take a long–"
"Please just do so. Taking our time is fine, we're still ahead of everyone." He insisted, not taking a no for an answer.
Gloria looked disappointed but she couldn't possibly say no to his request.
"Alright."
After all, she was only a guide. And Max was someone she guided.
The journey from Gua Culinary School to the next test site took them more than 15 minutes. And it was after cutting through the forest to reach the test area. If they took the normal road, it would take them 30 minutes or more.
When they arrived, Max got out of the hover car and looked at the clearing in front of him. There were some tents on the ground, three to be exact, and one already standing.
A person appeared from within that tent. He was taller than Max and wore tan clothes and pants. He also wore a dark cowboy hat and had a machete strapped on his waist.
"HAHAHA!" His laugh boomed through the surroundings. "Welcome, fledgling. To my camp test!"
The person introduced himself as Charlie, a camping instructor. He explained the test's content while laughing boisterously.
Max was happy with this test. Unlike the previous one, this test was probably easier to manage.
"All you have to do is to make the tent and give it flooring. Then, lit the bonfire in front of the camp. Simple, right? All the needed equipment is already prepared. If you are finished, just call my name. Go and do your best!n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Freedom!"
After shouting 'freedom', Charlie jumped into his own tent. His head appeared from within and he snored. Looking at him, he was like a turtle.
Max decided to ignore the tester and turned to Lily.
"It seems that he wants us to prepare the tent for camping." He said, explaining it to her because she looked confused with the short explanation from earlier.
"Ooh!" She nodded in understanding. "Un, easy to understand. Can you do it?"
When asked that, Max couldn't help but grin. But that grin soon turned into a frown as his stomach rumbled. Everything he ate was just pushed out when he vomited earlier.
Lily giggled at the sound.
"I'll take that as a yes."
Indeed, Max could make a tent alone. This type of tent hadn't changed from the one in his past life. However, making the bonfire seemed to be easier. There was a tool to light the fire easier than even a normal lighter.
Looking at the equipment for a while before getting to move. He skillfully arranged the tent and made a flooring made of tarp and sleeping bag.
Then, he exited the tent and made a bonfire. Everything was finished in 15 minutes or so, showing his experience at making the tent.
"Done." Max nodded in satisfaction as he looked at his work. His tent was put up pretty well.
Even if there was wind blowing, it would stay in place.
"Wow… That's fast." Lily expressed her amazement, "Are you used to this?"
"You can say that." He nodded, remembering when he first ran away from home in his past life.
'I lived in a tent within the woods at that time. And I often went camping to find good parkour spots, like a ruin or cliff. That was fun.'
Money wasn't something he had at that time, so camping was cheaper than lodging.
After tidying the unused equipment, Max and Lily.
"Charlie, we're done." Discover hidden content at empire
"Huh?" The tester looked dumbfounded as he opened his eyes.
"Already?" He asked, checking time on his smartwatch. "It's less than 20 minutes, though? How can you finish that fast as a first timer?"
"I never said that I am a first timer." Max smirked at the tester, "The key, please. We need to move to the next test."
Charlie still couldn't believe what he heard and jumped out of his tent. When he was greeted by a complete one, with the bonfire burning, he couldn't help but accept that the couple had indeed finished setting up the tent.
"You're not lying." He muttered in surprise before laughing loudly. "Congratulations! You deserve this gold key!"
Charlie handed the key to Max with a large smile. He applauded for a few seconds before diving into his tent again.
"Freedom!"
Max laughed loudly with Lily. They walked back to the hover car while imitating Charlie when they entered.
"Freedom!"
