Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 461 The Top-Ranked Rookie's Recording

The glorious and heroic scene of Damien fighting against the (A-) ranked creature, the Thunder Chimp, played on the enormous holographic screen.

Yet, no one watched as everyone's attention was on the young man in the middle of the stage, seemingly unhappy about something despite a phenomenal top-two finish.

"P-Please, calm down, Competitor Martinez. Once your recording finishes, we will play Competitor Crowley's recording. Please sit down for now and wait for a while."

"No! Play it right now! What good is my recording if it's only second place?! Stop playing it and show Crowley's, do you hear me?!"

As Damien was already grabbing Bart's suit collar, the arena staff had to intervene.

And of course, City Lord Blas, who was utterly displeased with the chaos Damien caused, also stepped in.

"Damien Martinez. Even your father wouldn't dare cause such trouble at an event under my name. I understand you're frustrated with the results, but is there really a need to create such a commotion? After all, you're all just rookies, and if this is your attitude as a rookie, perhaps I should file a report with the World Adventurer Association to have your license revoked. What do you think?"

Hearing the city lord's calm yet cold words, Damien broke out in a cold sweat, and every bit of his sanity instantly returned.

He didn't expect that the city lord himself would be watching the tournament.

Had he known, he would've complained in a more orderly manner.

"I-I apologize, City Lord Blas. I assure you this won't happen again. I shall wait for Crowley's recording."

"Hmph! Now you're taking back your words? If you're so confident that your achievement is unbeatable, there's no need to watch it. Play Crowley's recording!"

Naturally, since the city lord had already given the order, the event staff wouldn't dare contradict him. They promptly stopped playing Damien's recording and switched to Shye's.

Additionally, they played the edited version that included all of his high-ranked kills, with not a single one omitted.

Damien was naturally distressed at the moment.

However, he at least wanted to see how his (A-) ranked creature kill along with two (B) ranked ones were not enough to win first place.

"A-And now, Valenzia Arena proudly presents this year's rookie champion, Shye Crowley, with a total of 1,130 points accumulated!"

Promptly after Bart's introduction, Shye's recording was played.

It started with Shye walking around with a bored expression.

Shortly after, he spotted his first (B-) ranked target and immediately dashed toward the monstrous creature with a rather scary and focused gaze.

Then, without any change in reaction, he slashed the (B-) ranked creature's head clean off, not even allowing it to notice that it had already been decapitated.

Just from this one hunt, Damien's heart raced in fear and nervousness.

He couldn't have possibly done something like that.

However, he can't back down now, not after the commotion he caused that prompted even the city lord to come out.

Unfortunately, reality has always been harsh.

It wasn't just the (B-) ranked creatures who suffered such a fate.

Even the (B) ranked creatures, who they struggled to defeat with all they had, were all killed by Shye in one shot.

His adversary killed seven of such creatures with unsettling ease.

With that alone, Damien's (A-) ranked creature kill, worth a hundred points, was already surpassed.

"No…There's no way Crowley is already this strong…Yes, he must've obtained some kind of item from that damned Colzen Academy dean…otherwise, he wouldn't be…It's just impossible…"

Damien felt his sanity leaving him once more just from the (B) ranked creature kills.

Those were just appetizers, though, as shortly after, the scene played where he faced an (A-)-ranked Gryphon—an apex (A-)-ranked creature with the head, talons, and wings of an eagle, and the body and tail of a lion.

The creature's strength and speed were horrifying and it would probably be able to instantly kill any other rookie had they dared to fight one.

Yet, Shye was fighting toe-to-toe with such a creature, masterfully dodging its lethal talons every time it swooped down while whittling down its mana and stamina using blades of despair.

After a while, the Gryphon seemingly started to slow down, however, it was as relentless as ever in terms of aggression.

It was as though it would never acknowledge that a human could pose a danger to it.

Unfortunately, the reality was, that Shye was indeed a threat to it.

With a single swoop that was slower than usual, Shye managed to mount the creature by stabbing one of his greatswords deep into its back.

He then repeatedly stabbed at the root of the Gryphon's wings, causing it to screech in agony.

Once the wings were loose enough, Shye returned both greatswords to the system's inventory, grabbing both of the flying creature's wings.

Then, with one forceful motion, Shye pulled on both wings and fiercely kicked both of his legs downwards, violently ripping apart the Gryphon's wings and causing it to crash violently towards the ground.

As for Shye, he gracefully landed on the creature's lifeless corpse, exuding an air of extreme coolness as the wind tousled his ash-colored hair.

[Congratulations! You've earned 150,870 points!]

"S-S-Shye Crowley ruthlessly rips the Gryphon's wings apart!! How many people could dare claim that they could do the same as a rookie?!" Bart's exuberant voice echoed across the arena, prompting the crowd to cheer wildly at Shye's violent yet graceful hunt.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

At this point, Damien had already resigned himself to the situation, consoling himself with the thought that he too had managed to kill an (A-) ranked creature.

He reasoned that Shye was simply a bit quicker in slaying other creatures, which led to his defeat.

The creature he killed was one of the weakest amongst the (A-) rank, though.

Moreover, it appeared that Damien had already overlooked the fact that his ability to do so was only possible because of the armor sets and weapons provided by his family.

He hadn't even had any business fighting (B) ranked creatures if not for that support.

Looking around, Bart smiled.

It appeared that the crowd believed that this was already the highlight of the recording.

Even Damien thought so.

*ROAR!*

However, they soon discovered how wrong they were as the next recording began playing, featuring a resounding draconic roar that instantly drew everyone's attention back to the recording.
