Chapter 73 : The Cunning deal.
Looking at the peaceful smile on Su Yen's face, the seal demon didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Previously, he thought Su Yen was just like any other talented young star. How many young stars had he seen in thousands of years... countless
But where are they now? They have long crossed the river of the underworld.
Therefore, he was not going to to take any talented person seriously.
Being talented was one thing; having the fate and luck to unleash that talent was another question entirely.
However, Su Yen could not be regarded as a talent but as a monster.
Who among the monster geniuses from ancient times didn't shock the world?
While he was still trying to find a way to wrap his head around Su Yen's monstrous abilities, he saw a sword appear in his hand and prepared to attack.
"Wait..."
He tried to stop him, but Su Yen didn't seem to hear him.
"Starlight Blossom Slash – Fifth form."
The seal demon didn't have to complete his word when the temple was covered in an illusory starlight power.
The deadly sharpness made his spine drenched in cold sweat, and he quickly swung his spear a couple of times to defend against the deadly sword.
The dazzling sword strike traveled at an unimaginable speed, arriving in front of the seal demon in a blink.
Bang!
Ah!
The sword strike cleaved through the sand wall in front of the seal demon as if it was cutting through butter.
The sand wall was totally useless.
It continued and slammed into the chest of the sealed demon.
For a split moment, the sealed demon felt thousands of swords cutting through his body at the same time.
With the blossom slash augmented by sword aura and him being under the sword soul, the sharpness inside his body was countless times deadlier and more painful.
It was so painful that he wailed like a kid.
Who would have thought an old fogey like him would cry like that?
He screamed and was sent flying, crashing into the temple wall with the sound of his body splitting into pieces.
The sealed demon didn't have a chance at all. For a couple of seconds, the temple was quiet like a graveyard.
Su Yen looked at the multiple pieces of the sealed demon's body and frowned.
'Is the demon pretending or what?'
'Why would he be cut into pieces with just a single attack...'
'Humph! He must be pretending,' he snorted.
"If you think I will let you go because you pretend to be dead... You underestimated me."
With that, Su Yen prepared to attack once again.
Immediately, the scattered pieces of the seal demon came together and reformed back into its previous self.
"I knew it... You're pretending," Su Yen snickered and struck one more time.
"Can we..."
Bang!
The sword strike arrived in front of him and cut through his spear before cleaving his body into pieces.
Deep in the temple, the original body of the demon was twitching continuously.
Fury and hatred flashed across his face.
'When was the last time he, the ancient lord, reduced to this?'
He tried everything to break away from the chain around him, only to receive a backlash from the chains.
He groaned with hatred and unwillingness flashing through his face.
'I need to stop this kid from getting here,' he thought.
Back to Su Yen, he looked at the lifeless body in front and clicked his tongue.
"Continue to pretend. I won't stop until I destroy everything."
Just as he prepared to attack again, he heard an ancient old man's voice.
"Kid, don't attack. Let's talk this out."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
For a moment, Su Yen didn't attack. He squinted his eyes and looked at the direction where the voice was coming from.
Even though the seal demon tried to mask his voice by appearing everywhere, Su Yen, with his sword soul, still detected the source.
Realizing what was going on, he dropped his sword and asked casually.
"What do you want to discuss with me?"
When Su Yen stopped his attack, the seal demon breathed a sigh of relief with a smirk appearing on his face.
'You're still too young to know the ways of the world,' he thought evilly.
"Instead of us fighting, I want to make a deal with you," he said, trying to sound calm and truthful while hiding his killing intent.
"I'm all ears," Su Yen responded with an anticipating look.
"Good. I will show you where you can get enough resources and..."
"Does it have a spirit vein?" Su Yen interrupted, still smiling.
'You!' The sealed demon was furious when Su Yen interrupted him.
He wanted to lash out but controlled his impulse. 'I just need a little time to recover part of my strength, and I will teach this impudent kid the lesson of his life.'
Controlling his emotions, he responded calmly.
"Of course. Even though a spirit vein seems not to be present in this backward place. That's not it; it was all hidden by a powerful formation, and I know a place with a medium-grade spirit vein."
"Really?" He responded, not believing him.
"Of course, why would I lie to you?"
"Good. But if it is only a spirit vein, I won't agree. You need to give me more resources to quench the vengeance in my heart. You know you've killed a lot of my people. Thus, you need to make up for it."
The sealed demon was on the brink of a mental breakdown. How could someone be this shameless?
With a medium-grade spirit vein, the cultivation speed of everyone would increase by a large margin. However, when he remembered he was not going to give Su Yen the resources, he calmed down.
"I understand..."
Quickly, he told Su Yen about all the mouth-watering resources available if he made a deal not to attack him again.
"Fine, I agree," Su Yen agreed with a bright smile.
"But, I want you to make a heavenly oath that you won't lie to me and give me everything you promised me," Su Yen added, still smiling.
"Fine," the seal demon agreed, though he was surprised he wasn't worried. As long as he could get a little time, he would kill him before he could get his hands on the resources.
While the seal demon was planning his evil scheme, Su Yen wasn't idle at all.
'System, can you break the heavenly oath?'
[Indeed, I can. You need to pay 100 Destiny Points to break the oath.]
[Do you agree? Yes | No]
'Yes,' he agrees readily.
Quickly, the two made the heavenly oath with bright smiles on each other's faces, each one with a sinister plan.
"Now, tell me where the resources are located," Su Yen questioned impatiently.
The sealed demon was furious but still maintained his peaceful facade and told everything to him.
"What! You're telling me you don't know the specific location but the general location?" Su Yen exclaimed in fury.
"What do you expect? The resources have been sealed for the past thousand years. How can I know the specific location?" The seal demon retorted in disdain.
"Fine!" Su Yen rolled his eyes.
'System, break the oath.'
[The oath has been broken already.]
'Good. Let's deal with this old thing once and for all.'
Without further ado, he headed deeper into the temple.
"Where are you going?" The seal demon asked in shock.
"Of course, to finish what I came here to do," he responded matter-of-factly.
"What! Have you forgotten about the heavenly oath?!" He cried.
"Hmm. What is that? I don't remember," Su Yen played dumb as he walked to the last section of the temple.
There, he saw him.
