“There are twelve main mountains here, right?” Li Qiye stared at her and said.

“Ancestor, are you implying that the primary lake is located at the thirteenth peak? That would make sense.” She realized the implication.

The thirteenth mountain was another legend but none had been able to find it. Rumor has it it was hidden somewhere inconspicuous and shrouded by the progenitor’s supreme technique.

Another spoke of it being underground. As long as it was around, Desolate Frontier could never be destroyed. 

The third mentioned outer space - a hidden location containing the legacies of Desolate Ancestor as well.

Future descendants have naturally searched every inch, both below and above. Alas, they added nothing new to these rumors.

In recent generations, they dismissed it entirely. Some thought the thirteenth peak didn’t exist at all.

“Why are both so elusive?” She asked. Why did the progenitor have to hide them?

“You tell me.” Li Qiye said.

“Your opinion is valid but the answer is that this thing is rather problematic and shouldn’t be available to the outside world.” Li Qiye smiled.

“The primary lake?” She asked.

“It is older, the thing behind the refinement of Desolate Frontier. Your progenitor became an immortal due to it.” Li Qiye said.

“A thing that can turn someone into an immortal.” She blurted and was overwhelmed emotionally.

“Well, it wouldn’t be able to turn you into an immortal.” Li Qiye said flatly.

“Why not?” She couldn’t help but ask.

“Because your dao heart is not strong and firm enough.” Li Qiye said.

“Ancestor, so in the end, the dao heart is still the key to this stage.” She concluded.

“Your progenitor was not the only one with access.” Li Qiye said: “Jiang Ba saw it, the same with the others.”

“I see.” She knew the thing didn’t come out of nowhere. It was already around before their progenitor’s ascension.

This early era included their progenitor, the other six stars, and First-gen Chen. Alas, only one immortal came out of the group.

“Any of these immortal artifacts is just a fortune at best, a shortcut.” Li Qiye said: “Nothing can truly make someone immortal, they only serve to polish the dao heart in some ways.”

“I understand. Just like how there is no merit law to make someone become an emperor, they have to create their own grand dao.” She murmured.

In Desolate Frontier alone, disciples had access to imperial, primal, and even the ultimate Desolate Scripture.

Did all of them find success? No, the majority never came close to becoming an emperor, not even a desolate god. They simply couldn’t create a dao.

Therefore, one needed to persevere and maintain their dao heart without ever giving up. The merit laws were merely external help.

Nevertheless, she was still curious about the form of the item.

“Is it the end of the earth vein with all the worldly essences?” She asked.

“That can only nourish, not polish the dao heart.” Li Qiye smiled and stood up to take a look at the floating stone.

“Ancestor, what is this thing?” She asked.

“You all have been talking about it, the supreme immortal treasure hidden here.” Li Qiye smiled.

“This is it?” She found it astonishing since this amalgamation of stones didn’t look like a supreme treasure at all.
