Chapter 170 : Tension
"Oh is that so?"
A cold, chilling voice echoed behind Lyruis, sending a shiver down his spine.
He whipped around, his heart racing, only to be met with a sight that made him wish he could disappear.
Just a few meters away stood a young man clad in tight black clothing, his ashen hair framing a face as calm as still water.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
But it was the icy glare in his eyes, filled with lethal intent, that truly froze Lyruis in place.
What sent terror coursing through him was the gruesome trophy the young man held: two bloody heads, their eyes wide open in confusion, seemingly unaware of the horror that had just unfolded.
These were not just any heads; they belonged to the Tier 7 Legendary Knights who had been standing right behind Lyruis moments before.
Their bodies lay sprawled nearby, blood pooling around them, a horrifying scene that seemed almost surreal.
The remaining Tier 7 Legendary Knights were equally pale and shaken.
They stared at their fallen comrades' heads being treated like mere groceries by this stranger, their minds struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
"W... Wh... Who are you?" Lyruis stammered, taking shaky steps back while pointing a trembling finger at the young man.
Fear etched across his face mirrored the shock of other adventurers and mana cultivators who had rushed to investigate the commotion.
Their expressions were filled with dread as they gazed at this calm figure amidst chaos.
"What… what… when? How did this happen?" one whispered incredulously.
"Did anyone see him arrive?"
"It's like he just teleported here."
"He killed two Tier 7 Legendary Knights without making a sound!"
"What an absolutely terrifying killer! His methods are beyond comprehension."
"To dispatch two Tier 7 Legends so neatly and silently is truly an art of killing."
Their fear was palpable; none could fathom how this young man had appeared out of nowhere and executed such brutal efficiency without raising alarm, no screams or fluctuations of mana, just silence followed by horror.
The young man turned to Lyruis and tilted his head slightly before addressing Brixton beside him. "Brixton, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Zephyr," Brixton replied quickly but solemnly. "It's just that big sis is seriously injured and in a coma; our pills and healing spells can't help her."
Lyruis's eyes widened in shock when he realized that this formidable figure was on Brixton's side.
His expression darkened as he regarded Zephyr warily.
Facing Trinity and Brixton had already proven disastrous for them; now another powerful ally stood before them, one who had effortlessly dispatched two legendary knights right under their noses.
Zephyr glanced at Trinity, who grimaced in pain before turning back to Lyruis with an unsettling calmness. "What were you saying again? Go on; I'm listening."
Lyruis's expression twisted into a grimace as he glared at Zephyr, his fist clenched tightly. "Whoever you are, don't think for a second that I'm afraid of you. You'd better leave this place before my reinforcements arrive, or you'll end up dead alongside them!"
Zephyr merely shook his head, tossing aside the two bloody heads he had been holding.
A soft chuckle escaped his lips. "I can't tell if you're just foolish or incredibly naive. If you want to kill my siblings, then you're sealing your own fate too."
He continued with a smirk, "You're lucky I'm the one here; if it were my big brother instead, you would have died by now , and your Battle Wolves Adventurer Team would have been wiped out ages ago."
"Wow, talk about arrogance!" Just then, a booming voice echoed through the air as streaks of light shot across the sky towards Zephyr and the others at breakneck speed.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground shook violently as these lights landed with explosive force, cracking open the earth and sending long tentacle-like fissures sprawling in every direction.
As the blinding light faded away, several figures emerged clad in intricate and formidable armor.
Each wore different designs but shared one striking feature: a wolf symbol emblazoned on their left arms.
The sheer intensity of their presence made the atmosphere feel thick and suffocating.
Among them stood Tier 5 Grandmaster Knights, the weakest of the group, up to a formidable Tier 8 Mana Cultivator who appeared to be in his thirties.
He donned blazing fiery red armor and wielded a long spear that seemed to radiate heat so intense it warped the air around him.
"Third Captain!" Lyruis shouted joyfully upon spotting the man in blazing armor.
The Third Captain turned toward Lyruis with a slight frown. "I'll deal with you later," he said curtly before shifting his gaze back to Zephyr. "Now then, young man… what was that you said?"
Zephyr turned to the Third Captain, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "What? You think I'm lying?" He chuckled, confidence radiating from him. "If my big brother were here right now, he would wipe the floor with you and your precious Battle Wolves."
The Third Captain raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Oh really? I'd love to see this big brother of yours take down my Adventurer Team."
Zephyr simply smiled, not bothering to respond. The Third Captain surveyed the chaos around them—the remnants of battle and the two handless corpses—and spoke coolly, "Since you've taken out members of my Battle Wolves, it seems only fair that you all pay with your lives."
"Look who's getting arrogant now," Zephyr shot back with a grin. "Do you honestly think you can kill me and everyone behind me?"
"Why? You think I can't?" The Third Captain shook his head incredulously. "Just look at the numbers! We outnumber you significantly—in both quantity and skill! So tell me, how do you plan on surviving this?"
In response, Zephyr simply snapped his fingers. Instantly, a dense black mist rose from the ground and began to swirl ominously behind him. As it dissipated, figures clad in dark armor emerged silently—hooded sentinels standing like shadows come to life. The air crackled with their energy; even the weakest among them was a Tier 3 Master Knight, their stable foundations hinting at immense power.
The Third Captain's eyes widened in surprise as he took in the sight of these formidable figures materializing behind Zephyr. Regaining his composure, he scoffed dismissively. "You think those weaklings can defeat us? They may be strong individually but against the Battle Wolves? Not a chance!"
Zephyr shook his head slowly, disbelief etched across his features. "Your arrogance is truly blinding you. You need to check yourself before your overconfidence leads you to an unfortunate end."
"No," the Third Captain retorted with a smirk as he brandished a long fiery spear from his back, pointing it menacingly at Zephyr. "It's not arrogance , I have the ability to back it up! You better prepare for death!"
Suddenly, an icy voice cut through the tension like a knife: "How about adding me into this mix?" The temperature around them plummeted instantly; snowflakes began to fall as ice spread rapidly across the ground.
Even the once-arrogant Third Captain felt a shiver creep up his spine as white frost escaped from his lips with every breath he took. He scanned their surroundings but couldn't pinpoint where that chilling voice had come from.
"Big sis! You're here! Are you trying to freeze me alive?" Zephyr chuckled softly into the cold air.
"Humph!" A sharp snort echoed through the air as a dazzling white magic circle, intricately formed from ice, materialized a few meters away from the Morningstar Adventurer Team and the Battle Wolves Adventurer Team.
Moments later, the circle dissipated, revealing an enchanting girl clad in a stunning dress made of shimmering crystal.
Her hair flowed like freshly fallen snow, pure and ethereal, while her deep blue eyes mirrored the vastness of the ocean.
Despite her breathtaking beauty, her expression remained chillingly cold and devoid of emotion.
"Gwendolyn! You are here!" Brixton exclaimed, his face lighting up with an infectious grin.
"Vice Captain, who are they?" Melian asked Brixton with wide eyes filled with astonishment.
Her beautiful emerald green eyes sparkled with shock at the unexpected arrival. It wasn't just her; Aegnor, standing beside her, was equally taken aback.
They had already been astounded by Zephyr's ability to silently eliminate two Tier 7 Legendary Knights with ease.
Now, another formidable figure had appeared, one who seemed to be on their side.
Brixton smiled gently and replied, "That's my second sister and my third brother."
"Both of them are incredibly powerful," Aegnor remarked seriously as he scrutinized Zephyr and Gwendolyn.
"Indeed, they are truly formidable," Brixton confirmed with a nod.
The Third Captain squinted into the distance, locking eyes with Gwendolyn.
A shiver ran down his spine as he sensed a cold, menacing aura radiating from her.
Even as a Tier 8 Mythic Knight, known for his bravery and strength, he couldn't shake off the feeling of unease creeping in.
He quickly shook his head and chuckled softly thinking that he must thinking too much, how can he feel fear towards these weaklings.
