Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 131 Confessions and Bitter Spectators

Kai definitely felt like something was different. People looked at him as he walked to his classroom. At first, he thought that there was something on his face...or maybe his ass crack had eaten the back of his pants.

However, that wasn't the case.

He looked the same as always, too—with his hair covering his eyes and his stubble still unkempt. There was no reason for them to be glancing toward his way and gossiping!

However, in contrast with how he was usually stared at—with fear and anxiety—people were actually looking at him more kindly this time.

The other Shizi Dogs also thought that something was strange.

As Kun and Yuze entered their classroom, their classmates started whispering to each other, bright smiles gracing their faces.

"Good morning, Yuze!"

"Yuze, what's up?"

"Yuze, you look handsome today!"

Yuze frowned in confusion as he sat in his seat right next to Kun.

"Is it just me...or is there something strange today?"

"Strange?" Kun asked. "In what way?"

"People are looking at us today," Yuze said.

Kun looked at his friend before sighing and shaking his head.

"People look at you every day, dude. They even ask for your number sometimes."

Yuze clicked his tongue. "Not just that. They're even looking at you."

Kun finally stopped writing and looked around. His eyebrows raised in surprise when a classmate he had never even spoken to before suddenly waved at him, making him feel a little bit petrified.

"Wait, you're right," Kun said. "What the heck is happening?"

Back to the hallways where Kai was walking, a small group of girls suddenly appeared before Kai, making him halt.

They spoke erratically to each other, and they blocked Kai's way, causing him to scratch the back of his head.

"Excuse me," he said in a deep voice, attempting to go past them.

Then, before he knew it, one of the girls were suddenly pushed to the front, making him halt too.

He felt awkward as the girl looked up at him with wide eyes, so he quickly looked away.

"Umm, you're blocking the way," he said, pointing in the direction of his classroom. However, it seemed like the unfamiliar girl wasn't hearing anything he was saying.

Just then, she brought something from behind her back and placed it in front of Kai, her head bowed in embarrassment.

"I like you! Please accept this!"

Kai froze as he stared at the sparkly letter adorned with hearts in front of him.

He couldn't help but look around the hallways to see if the girl was mistaken. However, seeing her friends support her from behind made him feel even more awkward.

He was actually receiving a confession?

"You were very cool during the basketball game," she continued. "You don't have to respond. You just have to take this."

With that, she forcefully placed the letter in his hands before fleeing with her friends, leaving Kai in a frozen state.

Mingze and Alen, who were watching from their classroom window, couldn't help but give him a thumbs-up.

"He has unmatchable frizz," Alen said, squinting his eyes and biting his lip.

Mingze looked at him with confusion. "What are you talking about? And what is that expression?"

Alen clicked his tongue. "Don't you know? This is a cool expression."

Mingze pursed his lips before patting his friend on the back.

"I hope you get help soon," he said before going back to his seat.

Meanwhile, Kai still couldn't process what just happened. It seemed like those who witnessed the scene were also surprised.

"Alright, he did well in the game, but how come he got a confession from a cute girl?"

"True. His stubble looks like pubes. I'm more handsome than him!"

"Nah."

Kai scratched the back of his head and placed the letter inside his pocket before going inside the classroom.

Again, he was greeted with smiles and thumbs up as he entered, making him surprised.

Bao waved him over, so Kai quickly sat next to him.

"Everybody's acting weird," he muttered.

Bao chuckled. "Someone posted the moment when the Shizi Dogs won against the Xing Stars. It's been passed around the school's page, so everybody's talking about you."

"I see," Kai said, a small smile playing on his lips.

"Can you send me the video?" Kai asked.

Bao shook his head. "I'll just add you to the page! Almost all of the students of Shizi High are there. Most alumni are also a part of the page, so we have a lot of members."

Kai nodded. "Thanks."

"No problem. Just don't forget me when the basketball team starts getting more attention."

Kai smirked before shaking his head. "I think we still have a long way to go."

Their conversation was cut short when Sir Muchen entered the room with a wide smile.

"Good morning, class," he said, his eyes immediately straying to the very back to see if Kai was already in. He sighed in relief when he saw that Kai wasn't late this time.

"Stand and bow," Hao said, and his classmates quickly followed.

"Thank you," Sir Muchen said. "Let's get straight into our main discussion for the day."

The class groaned, causing Sir Muchen to chuckle. "It's not a formal lesson. We're going to talk about the Cultural Festival!"

The class brightened up as soon as the Cultural Festival was mentioned.

Sir Muchen shook his head in amusement.

"As expected, you guys pay attention when it comes to these topics."

The class chuckled along with him.

"Before all that, let me take the time to congratulate Kai and Zeren for winning the game against the Xing Stars last weekend," he said, making the two varsity players surprised.

However, they were even more surprised when their classmates applauded them loudly.

Zeren couldn't hide his smile as he took in all of their praise.

"Were you there, Sir?" Zeren asked.

Sir Muchen nodded. "Yes," he said. "I'm quite fond of basketball, so I've come to each one of your games."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Kai was definitely not expecting that. He thought that the school and their teachers didn't give a damn about their team. Their coach never even attended their games!

"Anyway, let's get back on track," Sir Muchen clapped.

"As you all know, the Cultural Festival will start next week. It will be a week-long festival; however, on Friday, your classes will be canceled as it will be the time to show off your booths. You can also enjoin your relatives and other people who don't attend Shizi High to join."

The students excitedly nodded.

"Now, each classroom and organization is required to have a booth of their own."

"With that, do you have any suggestions?"
